Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

This is going to go badly. Trump siding with Putin can only lead to continued war. Ukraine will not give up. The EU countires are at least meeting, but I don't expect much. They will send some supplies.

I can't even imagine how Trump could achieve anything here. A short lived cease fire.

QUESTION: Can trump lift sanctions against Russia without it going through Congress?

That is bound to be his next move.
Would that be a problem? Doesn’t Trump completely control the majority of congress so that anything he wants will be granted?

Trump keeps saying Ukraine should have made a deal, completely igoning the fact that the only 'deal' Russia offers is the option Czechs got from Hitler. Give up your land, army and all international protection so we can re arm and get the rest later.

Zelensky on giving Trump 50% of Ukraine's minerals..

"I am protecting Ukraine, I can’t sell it away, I cant sell our state,"

He also says Trump is He also says Ukraine is seeing "a lot of disinformation" from Russia and that Donald is living in the Russian disinformation space.

"With all due respect to President Donald Trump as a leader, he is living in this disinformation space," he adds.

His comments come after Trump claimed Zelensky - who won a five-year term in 2019 - was "down at 4% approval rating".

Zelensky says Ukraine has "evidence" that disinformation about the 4% approval rating is being spread by Russia, and "these numbers are being discussed between America and Russia".

Zelensky is polling above 50% consistently.

Hitler and Stalin colluded to divide Poland between them; Hitler got the Western half and Stalin got the Eastern half.
Trump and Putin are colluding to do the same to Ukraine except Putin gets the top half and Trump gets the bottom half.

Trump's comments are targeted at his Base, not Ukraine, Russia or the EU: he wants an pretext to do what will please Vlad.

No. I am quite certain that Putin will take the other half as soon as he has rebuilt his forces.

He’ll definitely object to having anything else than UN Peacekeepers monitoring the ceasefire, because they can be ignored just like Israel and Hezbollah have ignored them.

He already said he won't have any European nations that are part of NATO as a peacekeeping force even if they are under the UN or any other flag.

Where is the outrage?

Why is no-one in the US saying anything to contradict the US government view ?

Why is every single Republican happy to capitulate to Putin ?

It's a lost case.
People are fine with their playstations, and FoxNews, and Sandwiches.

Russia is taking over the US, but there is no sense of urgency. On 9.11. the world stopped (in the US at least). No more jokes, no Late Night, no business as usual. The current situation is far worse, but just because no 3000 death (at least not in the US), people are fine.
Yeah some protests here and there. Democrats still busy analayzing the last election (the very last). That's it. No militia, no nothing.

And surely there is nothing to expect from the Reps. They have been down the rabbit hole and are all in with the russian MAGA cult.

BTW, for the few who are still interested in actual facts:

Q3: So, what happened to the “missing” $100 billion?

A3:
The short answer is that it is not missing. The funds went (mostly) to activities that arose because of the war, and all are accounted for. Some paid for sending equipment and funds directly to Ukraine. A large part went to activities that arose because of the war but were not spent in Ukraine. To see why this is the case, it is important to look at the funding as a whole.

Since 2022, Congress has appropriated $175.2 billion in aid as a result of the war in Ukraine, a slight difference from the $177 billion that Zelensky cites. This includes all funds in the five supplemental appropriations, $900 million in the regular budget but excludes $9 billion in loans. Most has been delivered, and most of the remainder has been obligated through contracts and binding commitments. However, it will take many years for all the contracts to be completed and the money disbursed.

In past analyses, CSIS has divided aid to Ukraine into categories to illustrate the different purposes. Figure 1 shows how the $175 billion is laid out in seven categories. It’s all there, the $75 billion Zelensky cites and the “missing” $100 billion.

I was reassured repeatedly by Republican aligned posters that Trump would not abandon Ukraine.
Trump's only abandoning Ukraine's people. He's not abandoning all its lovely rare earths and titanium ore. That will be taken into protective custody.

Say, has anyone heard how this blatant act of stabbing an ally in the back for money is going down in Taiwan? What will the Chinese offer to pay Trump to turn a blind eye?
