Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

Ask not what Trump can do for Ukraine.
Ask what Russia can do for Trump.

This isn't about defending Ukraine or getting the best outcome for them. It's about ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ them over for failing to provide Trump with the evidence he told them he wanted against Hunter Biden.

Trump 2.0 is like the reckoning at the end of The Godfather: It's entirely about petty, vindictive revenge on everyone who in any way slighted Trump 1.0. All the stupid crap that everyone else has long forgotten about, Trump remembers, and now he's going after everyone on his list. So, sorry Ukraine, you let the tangerine Mussolini down, and now you have to suffer whatever humiliation his pal Putin wants.

I almost literally could not believe what I heard on the radio just now.

That the United States is so cowed in the face of a regime which has shown that it is incapable militarily, weak economically and bankrupt politically is just pathetic really. I suppose that Musk and Trump have found a way to benefit personally from this.

REPORTER: Is it acceptable to the US for Russia to retain any territory that it has annexed since the beginning of the war in February 2022?

MIKE WALTZ: Well I think those are things, those are to be discussed

Erdogan says Turkey backs Ukraine’s full territorial integrity.

Turkey isn't just a side player in this. They control the Black Sea and NATO’s southern flank.
Erdogan says Russia’s land grab is not up for negotiation.

They outplayed Russia in Syria, looks like they might do the same in Ukraine.

Zelensky: “What makes anyone think Ukraine would accept ultimatums now when we refused them even in our darkest moments against Russia?”

Lavrov: "If Europe intends to continue the war in Ukraine, then what reason is there to invite them to the negotiations?"

Also Russia won't accept Nato troops in Ukraine as part of any peace deal.
"The deployment of troops from the same Nato countries, but under a different flag - EU or their national flags - changes nothing. Of course, this is unacceptable for us."

So who polices it? Russia? North Korea?

The USA? they are part of NATO

Rumors of a €700Bn EU aid package being announced next week. If true this is huge!
Well I guess that will help correct the trade imbalance between the EU and US and hold of tarriffs. It should help reduce the US fiscal defecit. A bit embarrasing that the Us needs and aid package from the EU I would have thought, but I suppose that is how a protection racket works, you have to pay the money if the US is to maintain security guarantees or the EU might suffer a nasty accident like happened to Ukraine.

Lavrov: "If Europe intends to continue the war in Ukraine, then what reason is there to invite them to the negotiations?"
This, as usual for Lavrov, sounds like it's making a point but makes no sense whatsoever. Literally everyone involved, including Russia, but with the sole seeming exception of Trump, intends to continue the war until a peace deal is negotiated. If you don't negotiate peace with the people continuing the war then what are you negotiating?

Lavrov also refused an agreement that Ukraine and Russia stop targetting civilian energy infrastructure, claiming that Russia had never targetted Ukraine's infrastructure. So, basically continuing vranyo.

Not only that. Most of the money was spent in the US anyway.
And the way that much of that money was used additionally saved the US maintenance and decommissioning costs, on top of that. The US really didn't "lose" that much, in the first place, and the bang for the buck has ended up as pretty extremely high compared to the bang for the buck for most of our massive military spending.

Unless the USA or Europe guarantees direct military support if Russia ever attacks or invades again, Ukraine should reject any peace deal that gives Russia lots of Ukrainian land in the east.
