There was a program on NOVA about this. If all the ice caps melted there would still be plenty of dry land. Scientists know how much water the ice caps have and there isn't enough water to cover the entire earth. No it isn't.

Ok heres a moral question. What did these giants do that was so bad? Gay sex? Murder? Orgies? Why drown the babies? Why drown the animals? This God of yours isn't very nice is he? In fact I personally would say this God of yours is truly horrible and his behaviour is worse than these bad old giants.I'm going to try a different method than I have ever tried. I'm going to open a thread on the flood by simply asking anyone who cares to to ask me whatever they want to ask me about the flood. This could potentially save a great deal of time.
Why did you even ask this question? We present you with scientific evidence as to why the Noahs flood story is a fairy tale. You answer by using pseudoscience and blind faith. I think we're all wasting our time. You've asked us what we think of this story and we've told you. In the end you drop the bible on us despite our very logical scientific rebuttle. If you happen to see any let me know.
Psssttt! [whispers] You will have to transcend the boundaries of the skeptical arena.
If Noah's ark was made of wood, what was Joan of Arc made of?

Why don't you just take your flood and shove it where the sun does not shine?

That's what god did with the water when the flood was over.
Eeeeewww....
Stephen Jay Gould had a particularly funny passage in one of his books describing the headlong flight of all the critters from the Ark trying to get to their appropriate environmental niches before the humans found them again.... The Koala having a rather hard time of it.
You are invoking magic. That much water vapor would block out the Sun and make plant growth before the flood impossible. Also, it would have precipitated the moment it was formed, not waited until god decided to cause flood. Physics makes this "canopy" impossible. If you claim it existed, you are claiming magic, and all your claims become meaningless. The water came from a canopy of water vapor that surrounded the earth up until the flood. "For, according to their wish, this fact escapes their notice, that there were heavens from of old and an earth standing compactly out of water and in the midst of water." - 2 Peter 3:5 (See Genesis 1:6-8)

I noticed you never answered how a wooden boat the size of Titanic did not fall apart and sink -- another physical impossibility. Nor how after waters receded how did carnivores did not wipe out all herbivores in short order. Etc.
If you're going to explain the sudden appearance and then the disappearance of huge quantities of water by simply saying "it was a miracle," then I don't see the evidence that a flood didn't happen as a big problem - it was magic, after all! The same magic that created and debigulated all that water then made a bunch of evidence that would indicate a flood never happened.
maybe God had a tarp under the water vapor and pulled it aside when he wanted the water to fall???You are invoking magic. Where did the water go? Nowhere, the earth is about 70% water. It is possible that the oceans were smaller and the mountains were lower. River channels reach far out under the ocean. There is ten times as much water by volume in the ocean as there is land above sea level. Ice caps.
