Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

Everyone has that same friend upstairs. I heard about it on the radio and immediately prayed for those people. I'm sure millions across the world whom believe in God did the same.
.
Friends don't let friends and little girls and anyone who's there get shot.

What do you think about this "person of interest" the cops are looking for? I don't know that much about his particular psychological malady, but it would seem odd that he had a partner in his paranoid delusion.

Could the old guy have put him up to it? Taken advantage of him? I'm confused about what role this 50 year old guy could play.
.
One of the local nazis would show up at our field, talking trash.. and sometimes there'd be this older guy with him, who stared harshly at everyone.
Mentor?
Instigator?
Crazy old man?

Some random comments:

1. While the shooter may have had Mein Kampf & Das Kapital on his bookshelf I'd be more interested to know how often he'd read the books.

2. It's pretty clear that this guy's allegiance was to 'Queen Frag & the mighty nation of Hysteria' (apologies to Calvin & Hobbs), rather than to any conventional political party.

3. I'm hoping that none of the dead/injured got that way thanks to the 'helpful bystanders' opening fire.

Seeing as how I have not heard of anyone hitting the perp with gunfire....I wonder if number 3 has any credence...

Supposedly he had 20 shots and hit 19. So he is either a good shot or some were shot by bystanders whom can't aim.

dodging jail by being declared legally insane is by no means something good. There's cases in Sweden where persons are kept in mental instituions for decades or life for crimes that would've awarded them a few months in prison. That's because the psychiatrist aren't as formal as the legal experts.
The shooter has "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" on his list.

Judging a person by the books is so pedestrian.
I do it out of concern for my carbon footprint.

The "person of interest" has come forward and turns out to be the cab driver that drove him to the scene. The shooter was apparently concerned about getting his change back from the 20 dollar bill he pad the cabbie with. The cabbie isn't considered to be a suspect in the crime.

Wild Cat is right. Dude is totally fruit loops. People's criminal records are public and I think its about time people's medical records become public.

Way too many crazies out there that are dangerous to other people. As a victim of violent crimes myself at the hand of a crazy person I can tell you that when you meet them face to face some are "good actors" at hiding their craziness.

When I was 17 a group of three 20yr olds tried to cut my head off with a shovel. Luckily they failed. All three had previous records of violent crime and had severe mental issues.
And you think that if their medical records had been public, they wouldn't have been able to get their hands on a shovel?

Think a bit. If people who are crazy and good at hiding it know their medical records will be public, do think they'll be more or less likely to seek medical help for their conditions?

I'm with Eagle. And since most terrorism is done by theists, we should have a list of who all the theists are so we can keep an eye on them.

Well, that definitely makes more sense.

I associate the date with the '2012 mayan calendar scare' but it's just a hunch. As for the grammar, I've seen similar paranoia before but I don't know where it might come from.

I agree, actually it does not follow any logically coherent reasoning at all.

Again, my point is NOT that he faithfully carried out Glenn Beck's agenda. My point is that he seems to have gotten a lot of his twisted ideas from a source like Beck. It is therefore rather disingenuous to dismiss the possibility that, yes, this guy may actually also have been influenced by rhetoric hinting at violence against government representatives.

Feed a lunatic ideas about currency reform and what you get is some utterly incoherent theory about money. Tragic, but harmless. Feed a lunatic ideas about an oppressive unconstitutional government whose representatives should be targeted and that we may use 'second amendment' methods to 'take back the country' and you get something a lot less harmless.

Right wing talk radio and the like; don't preach killing people. They are political shows that deal with policies. The way you change policies is through votes.

They are simply "vote grabbers" whom entertain individuals while they work. That is why liberal shows don't do good on AM radio.

A lot of liberals don't seem to work; or they come from families of "non-workers" and watch Judge Judy and the sorts instead of listening to AM radio.

They "believe" they are above it and it is some form of cave man technology.
The only AM stations I know of that a liberal might ever listen to is one of the sports ones. Even then it seems its only the "hardcore" sports fanatics that do.

They tried liberal talk radio and it ALWAYS fails. Because the majority of people "working" don't agree with a lot of the issues.

Most of my friends are liberals and they do not even watch the news. They prefer stuff like "True Blood" instead and are surprised when it rains and stuff.

I will, however, give some examples of not only dangerous rhetoric; but examples of political rhetoric combined with some sort of "youth camps."

Dangerous Rhetoric trying to influence votes and incite violence

Same as above but from a concerned citizen

Left-wing Political Rhetoric in Youth Camps

Some scary stuff. That is why we should love one another as much as possible and band together as a Nation to condemn actions that are uncivil and unjust. Violence is never an answer to anything and it only will create more problems and not solve anything.

Homeland Security has a huge job on its hands and is trying its best at not only protecting individuals while not infringing on their rights; but, also, stopping terror before it strikes. The only way they can accomplish this great feat is with the help of the people and the communities.

If you see something say something. Worst case scenario is; you may save lives.

And people whom knew this man prior to the tragedy saw something...I'm sure of it.

Dear USEagle 13,
Please refrain from using the word "whom".
You do not know how to use it, so using the word "who" would work out better for you.
This is just a kind note from a retired high school English teacher.
Yours truly,

"Some online statements attributed to Loughner suggest an obsession with the nation's currency system and with grammar."

ya gotta love the liberal media.

November 5th 2009 (islamic terrorist attack, Ft Hood texas): "Let's not rush to judgement"

January 9th 2011: "OMG, it's Sarah Palins fault!"
Good point. However, Palin et al has been contributing to the vitriolic rhetorics and she did use the worst graphic design imaginable for that homepage.

You see, it's the worst possible interpretation in communication that counts... ;)
