Who's going to TAM3??

Athon, I'll be pleased to see you again!
Rebecca, I look forward to meeting you!

After rummaging through this box ...

... for a while, I was able to confirm that last years end-year bonus was 900 Euros, which means I should be able to make it to TAM3. You can see why it took me so long to find out for sure if I could make it :D

If it means you'll be there, I will punch Pesta in the mouth myself if I have to ;)

I am provisionally declaring my intent to attend TAM3. My mother had offered me 50,000 worth of Delta frequent flier miles to use for my airfare, but unfortunately as of October Delta is pulling out of D-FW airport so I'm not sure if I can use them. I'll need to check over the next few week.s

If my roomate from TAM2 is ammenable to rooming again, I would appreciate it and will contribute half the cost this time. If not, then I appreciated last year more than you can imagine and hope my stinky feet didn't make you think less of me.

I realize that I don't post to Randi.org that much any more and have turned my back on the alternate forums, but I would love to see those of you I call my friends again in person as well as punch bpesta in the mouth.

I'll see how my finances look over the next 30 days...

Hmm, after reading Patricio's warning, just in case US wasn't joking, I'll change my requirements to someone giving pesta a big kiss on the lips. Still up for it exarch?

I went to Lasvegas.com and they have room rates at the Stardust for $50 on Thursday and $85 on Friday and saturday. I'm planning on arriving on Wednesday, which is also $50 and leaving on Monday, and Sunday night's rate is also $50. Just wanted to pass this on to anyone wanting to save a buck or two.

Also, I may be looking for a roommate. I realize I know abslolutely no one on this board, but if anyone else is looking to cut costs, let me know.

Our block of rooms is in the West tower, which is the one that has been renovated, and the rooms are MUCH nicer than in the other parts of the hotel. The rooms on lasvegas.com are undoubtedly the dreary ones. We still have a LONG way to go to fulfill my block committment, so please, if you can, please book through our code word "Amazing".

Still waiting for a package from JREF, though I confirmed my payment with Linda.

No packages are being sent out prior to the meeting. I'll have registration packets and t-shirts waiting for you when you check in at the TAM3 registration desk on Thursday.

I'll handle it. I've been a camp counselor. "Disgusting" barely even registers.

I do believe (depending on whether the thing got mailed/faxed or not) registered for TAM3.

I'll be arriving early to help out and staying late to hinder. Since I'll be driving in from Los Angeles, I'm more than open to carpooling. My parents have also said that they're cool with a few people crashing at our/their house before heading out to Vegas.

Will do. You're right... the rooms are much nicer and they're only five extra dollars.

I've been meaning to ask Loon: how many days? And what does one spend on average for things like breakfast and lunch and stuff in a place like LA? If you're not a world famous movie-star with money to spare I mean.

I'm working out the vacation days now, but it looks like I'll have ample days off and collegues to cover for me, so I'm thinking about visiting LA and SF, one before and the other after TAM3. Is that a conceivable plan? Should I stop clogging this thread with planning it?

I'm VERY VERY glad you care coming USA!!!! Can I hold pesta down while you punch him? We can claim he said he was like Houdini! (Scarlet, up the life insurance!)

Patricio! Bring your cam corder or else!!!!! And Scott can convert to DVD!

Thank you for clearing that up.
Oh yeah! T-Shirts! Think I can get a waterproof felt onto the plane? I will need autographs.

I'd take getting a house over going to Tam3 even though I am VERY excited about going, a new house OHH that would just be sooo nice

congrats Huntsman

I enjoyed TAM2 a great deal, and I wish I could say with certainty that I will be at TAM3. I can say with certainty that I would like to be at TAM3, but things are complicated.

At the very least, I will be there "in spirit," which I've recently discovered is substantially less expensive than being there "in person."

I expect I will be physically present in at least one respect: I have prepared a new crossword puzzle for inclusion in the materials, and have sent it to Linda. The puzzle is a bit bigger than the crossword puzzle that I prepared for TAM2 (with a 17-by-17 grid instead of a 15-by-15 grid), but it is perhaps a tad easier than the TAM2 puzzle. It includes a special quotation from a dear friend of Mr. Randi's, as well as a secret message or two. For those of you who are crossword fans, you can appreciate that this is a professional quality crossword puzzle, and it will give you something interesting to do while Phil Plait is talking.

(Just kiddin', BA!)

w00t!

As far as the LA caravan, I don't expect my parents will have too much of a problem, though numbers and times will need to be confirmed and I am getting there early.

So anyone who is going through LA, let me know.

As far as costs in LA, I'm not really sure. Breakfast can be had for well under $5. Figure 5-10 for lunch (more if you go to a real restaurant). Also figure that you tend to spend more on vacation. I think, after lodging is accounted for, you can probably do very well on $30/day assuming you don't go Disneyland. This is just a guess and I have no idea about SF.
