Who's going to TAM3??

As far as the LA caravan, I don't expect my parents will have too much of a problem, though numbers and times will need to be confirmed and I am getting there early.

So anyone who is going through LA, let me know.

As far as costs in LA, I'm not really sure. Breakfast can be had for well under $5. Figure 5-10 for lunch (more if you go to a real restaurant). Also figure that you tend to spend more on vacation. I think, after lodging is accounted for, you can probably do very well on $30/day assuming you don't go Disneyland. This is just a guess and I have no idea about SF.
Well, the reason I asked how long you are willing to put up with me is that in Europe we have a disgustingly large number of vacation days. If I manage to have some of this year transferred to next year, I think I might be able to reach a total of about 40 days off (social security rules :p:p:p).

Anyway, that said, I could thus easily take three or four weeks off. I'm sure I'll manage to keep myself busy for that long if I want to, but I think I'd be pushing my luck with your folks Loon :o:D
Hence my question, how long will they put up with visitors, then substract a few days from that and I have the number of days I definitely shouldn't overstay. Well, something like that anyway.

So, my idea is to also take a week before and a week after TAM off from work. Except, checking the calendar, it seems that would put my flight to the US very close to New Year. That might not be such a bright idea ... :(
Then again, if I plan it all right, I could celebrate New Year in LA :p (Uh, ... never mind)

Film more skepchicks behaving badly! We need more footage!
Will I be allowed in the Skepchicks Pijama Party?,... as the cameraman of course!,... you know, I take my duties very seriously. Now if skepchicks want to behave badly with me, that's up to them,.... I can hand the camera over to someone else, or turn it off altogether :D;)

I didn't want to say anything before I was certain...and I am still not quite certain...but as of about 10 minutes ago things look very good for Mercutio to see you in Vegas....

So if US wants to switch, he can kick my @$$ again this year.

Yay - I will be the first (or maybe second) to shake your hand! :)

I'll talk to my parents again in a couple of days and see what they think. I know two or three days is no problem, and I suspect that a week wouldn't be a problem, the only issue being that I have no idea how long I'll be there, what with having to come back to Japan.

As far as New Years, I have no idea where I'll be (Ideally, US for christmas, Japan for New Years and US for TAMIII). But if I find myself in LA, odds are I'll have no plans and be looking for someplace to go.... I'm not a big fan of new years.

I just bought my tickets. I am coming in straight from an astronomy meeting, and I need to attend a session on the afternoon of the 12th, so I arrive late that night, and I have to leave around noon on the 16th. I'll miss the tail end of the meeting, unfortunately, but such is life.

Everything confirmed. There from the afternoon of the 12th 'til the afternoon of the 16th.

Cool! Save us some kick ass seats up front.

For you, my friend, I'll even buy the first round.

Note for those who did not attend before: One of the nicest things about TAM2 was that forumites did save great seats for one another. And no, I feel no guilt whatsoever about it. These seats went to deserving people. And Phil.

OK, but remember,if there is any volunteering to be sawn in half, or other skeptic cool torture stuff - everyone volunteer ME!

I never get picked for the good stuff!!!

Oh MLynn, I don't know what Merc uses on his lips, but for a guy from the colds of New England, they are buttery soft....

really, it's research in way.

For some strange database reason, I cannot quote kittynh...but MLynn...see? I was not lying to you.

Hmph.

Phil, I will still buy you at least your first round....

Vegas was SO dry. Gawd. My lips were chapped from the moment I arrived until a day or two after I left.

By the way, I think Merc secretly uses lipstick ;)

Exarch is obviously not adapted to the colder climates that I am. Inferior stock will show.

Bandit? I steal nothing....

well...
