Trump won by getting most people to think he lost?

No, he won by exceeding people's expectations whereas Hillary just met their expectations.

In the UK Mercedes cars fair quite badly in user satisfaction polls even compared to some quite mediocre brands. By any objective measure such as the number of failures or breakdown they do far better but because expectation is higher, they "lose" overall.

Your explanation doesn't make any sense at all. Most people think Hillary won. Yet she lost? Come on.

Those unicorn things should have happened eight years ago with you as top official in the Obama administrations, Killary.
Trump isn't as prepared to go for Clinton because he probably has less knowledge than you - IOW he did not see any need to prepare because he's going after her on emotion, not facts.

One thing was abundantly apparent during this debate: Hillary is an old white lady. She lost the visuals.

Do we really want a country run by grandma? Grandma is nice and all, and she certainly cares about us, but didn't we just take her car keys away for her own protection? Yes, yes we did.

I was bothered by Trump making it sound as if Hillary Clinton personally negotiated all the trade agreements including NAFTA. Trump was either lying or doesn't know -- a tossup -- that NAFTA was signed by lame duck President George H.W. Bush on Dec. 17, 1992. Yet Trump tries to hold Clinton responsible for it.

My question: how could Donald Trump "win" the debate when you have no way of knowing if you can believe anything he says?

Republicans don't care about facts.

Sexist, ageist and wrong in every possible way.

You realise Trump is older, don't you?

Yeah, but on him it looks "elder statesman."
On her it looks "past her prime."

Television is, after all, a visual medium. She lost the optics.

I hope you are joking.

I think it's a sad fact about the American electorate. Stupid stuff can matter much more than it ought to.

For example, I'm not a fan of Donald's little pursed lipped mouth. It makes me ill and conjures up images of those sucker fish that attach to and feed off of other fish. As he might say, "totally disgusting." But, you know, I try to get past that kind of snap judgement.

Neither one has Obama's suave & debonair.

But one of them will have a popular Obama campaigning for her throughout October.

Utter crap. You saw the bump in the polls after the debate, didn't you?

I didn't. That was my personal impression, nothing like a considered, evidence-based analysis. I'm willing to be wrong if that's what the polls show.

Your analysis was that a man won because he is a man? Good thing most people disagree with you.

I wouldn't trust a voter who claims to be undecided at this point to differentiate between ISIS and Michael Moore.
I think that most people who say they are undecided are ones who don't like Hillary but will vote for her or won't vote at all.

I thought we had one of the worst Prime Ministers ever to grace our country until last year, but Trump beats him hollow. How on EARTH can the US even consider such a know-nothing blow-hard as Trump as a viable candidate for ANYTHING in the government arena. He's beyond laughable, he's utterly pathetic. Further, it seems clear he is living in some sort of fantasy world of his own invention. He was gobsmackingly awful! Asking China to invade North Korea?! The US stealing Iraqi oil??!! Has he NO idea????!!

Yeah. I live here and I am dumbfounded that this utter moron is still on the national stage. In a sane world, HRC would be up 90/10. In a saner world, Trump wouldn't even be in the race.
