I saw video of the protesters taking over the library. They illegally occupied the building and engaged in civil disobedience.

He was fired three times by his employer because of this.

He engaged in civil disobedience which he believed was just because he was fighting for a good cause.

Columbia protest rules do not allow the students to do what they were doing, Columbia was not able to end this situation so they called the local police to deal with it.

So have campus security deal with it. Don't violate the rules and unilaterally call in the armed enforcers.
