Trump immigrant family separation policy

Can you say exactly what you're mad about?

Glad you asked.

Trump administration says ACLU — not government — should find deported parents

About a pathological inability to face the consequences of own actions, in short, what is known as "manning up." Lynch mob political rallies. Children in cages. Frontal attack on all humanity (CO2).

Across-the-board cowardice. Intellectual surrender to any self-serving woo, twisted and contorted moral reasoning always ending in "white, so right!"

Betrayal of the nation's interests by a sweeping and profound failure to engage in fact-based science, which is, sorry, what makes any country or civilization great, not the little boys who make toys and sell them using the fruits of that labor. Backstabbing, ignorant betrayal, owing to this lack of any backbone.

tl;dr: For forgetting that balls of steel require a heart of gold to go with them to remain on the right side of history.

And that's totally unsurprising, honestly, for anyone who's been paying attention. To add to that, of course, families with children are the primary target of Trump's 'zero tolerance' immigration prosecutions.

The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University analyzed prosecutions during the weeks following Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s announcement that all people crossing the border illegally (and as it turns out legal asylum seekers) would be prosecuted. The administration said that family separations and baby jails was just the consequence of that. They lied. The analysis found that in May, 4,458 adults with children were arrested along with 24,465 adults without children, but only 9,216 were actually referred for prosecution. Only 32 percent of the adult immigrants crossing were charged—less than one in three were chosen for prosecution and those chosen were parents. Families were targeted.

I'd like to see the ACLU find the parents because the Trump administration has made it clear they plan to claim they can't find them.

But, the judge should order the government to pay the ACLU a hefty sum for their services. And that sum needs to come out of the ICE budget immediately.

These people are monsters.

The Trump administration chose to prosecute parents with children over adults without kids, according to a new analysis of immigration data, in another sign that the "zero tolerance" policy was manipulated to target families at the border.

When Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the "zero tolerance" policy, he said everyone who was caught crossing the border illegally would be prosecuted. Family separations, the administration said, were simply a consequence of prosecuting all immigrants who were caught trying to enter the US illegally.

But an analysis of prosecutions during the weeks after Sessions announced the policy found that during May, US border authorities chose to prosecute adults with kids over adults crossing the border by themselves. That same analysis — by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University — found that only 32% of all adult immigrants caught crossing the border were charged with entering the US illegally that month — an indication that it wasn’t a blanket policy but a targeted effort directed at parents with kids.

Four-year-old adopted child of American citizens in danger of deportation:

A Colorado couple says their adopted daughter could be deported in the coming weeks after, they say, the Trump administration denied her citizenship application without explanation.

Have the little girl draw a card showing Trump as Captain America stepping on all the Big Bad Rapist Killer Mexicans and he'll let her stay.;)

At some point, the strategy for payment for the wall changed from "and we'll make Mexico pay for it" to "and we'll torture immigrants children and their parents to terrorize Democrats into agreeing to the US paying for it." :(

I think it is time to be frank about the fact that Trump's Republican Party is quite simply the American Nazi Party by another name. One should expect morally reprehensible policies and actions, as well as count on the fact that democracy and human rights mean nothing to white supremacists; in fact, they are threats.

These people need to be voted out of office and then prosecuted for their crimes.

(I don't, by the way, agree with calls to allow Trump to last until 2020 and not be impeached "because the crazies would go wild." If they would do so, then they should do so, and the sociopolitical upheaval lived through and fully experienced. Sweeping Confederates (KKK/Nazis) under the rug and pretending they are normal was a huge mistake 150+ years ago, and would be an even bigger one now.)

worth comparing to Trump's agenda

And... I firmly object. While it's true that the Republican Party is descending into horribleness, their brand of horribleness is not the Nazi kind and it's unlikely to actually become the Nazi kind, even if it finally actually reaches outright fascism. It's not quite there yet, even if is it well on its way towards it. I find it somewhat doubtful that it would be ever be as directly murderous as the Nazis became, as well... at least in the same manner. I could see them dropping nukes relatively easily, though.

These people need to be voted out of office and then prosecuted for their crimes.

Those that have committed them, at least.

It would be rather uncomfortable, but meh. The only main reason to hold back on impeaching for the Democratic Party, if it actually had a real chance of success (it mostly doesn't right now), would be because of how excellent Trump's being at getting out the Democratic vote, shifting the political situation immensely just ahead of the next redrawing of the maps and with a potential Convention quietly looming.

Just in case you were curious about some of the aftermath in Hurricane disaster treatment...

Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon has uncovered documents that show that the Department of Homeland Security, somehow found itself directed to divert nearly $10 million — yes ten million dollars — from FEMA to ICE (under the direction of Sessions this money is earmarked for “Internment Camps.”)

This occurred after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and killed 3,000 Americans, and before Hurricane Florence is about to hit the East coast.
