Five Eyes has been in operation since the late 1990s after ECHELON was revealed

and his blabbing to Downer was a key trigger!

It just bears repeating, that our whinging & bleating Trump sycophants are just plain ignoring the established and indisputable facts.

Fact 1: The FBI received information from one of the Five Eyes co-operating allied foreign intelligence services who were spying on the Russians. During their own routine "SIGINT" surveillance of The Kremlin and Russian oligarchs, they noticed multiple members of the Trump campaign and other Trump associates kept repeatedly popping up in their investigations.
Hmmm, odd isnt that Hillary didn't pop up since many of these contacts also have ties to Clinton. "Hey, ignore that fellas"

Fact 2: As a result, those intelligence partners informed the FBI about what they had observed. They were so concerned about what they had been told, that only THEN did the start the counter-intelligence investigation - it was their duty to do so.
And what exactly was it they were told that's so alarming?

Fact 3: The Steele Dossier had nothing whatsoever to to with the appointment of the Special Counsel. Far from being some fabricated, fake document, the Steele Dossier has turned out to be devastatingly accurate in almost every aspect. Many things in the dossier have been confirmed as absolutely correct, a number of things have been unable to be confirmed, but there is nothing in that document that has been shown to be wrong.
Seriously? What in there is confirmed to be correct?

Fact 4: It was the firing of James Comey as head of the FBI, and Trump's own stated reasons for doing so, firstly because Comey would not protect Mike Flynn, and secondly, because Comey would not put a stop to "Crossfire Hurricane", the Russia probe, that led to Rod Rosenstein appointing Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

It appears Flynn was unjustly accused. However, even besides that it is completely within the Presidents power to fire Comey for whatever reason he so chooses.

In what way was Flynn unjustly accused? What in the Mueller Report draws you to that conclusion? What in the footnotes in either volume (he's discussed in both) should not have been cited as evidence? Please be specific.

How would he know? He hasn't read it; he can't have, because if he had, he would know that Flynn was rightly accused and indicted and charged and found guilty of numerous criminal acts.

Just like many of the people around him and in Trump's orbit, Flynn is a criminal, and he's a convicted one.

No, the President's power is NOT absolute, it has Constitutional limits.

The president cannot fire people for a corrupt purpose; a president firing someone because they refuse to stop an investigation into the president, is a corrupt purpose, and its obstruction of justice.

No it doesn't appear Flynn was unjustly accused. He admitted to being guilty of acting as a foreign agent without registering. He accepted millions under the table as well. He was smart enough not to plead guilty if he wasn't.

Flynn's crime has more to do with accepting money to use his position to influence political decisions and hiding income from the IRS. None of what I can see relates to Comey getting fired except for Trump's obstruction.

Yes, Trump tried to obstruct the investigation of Flynn, but so what?

Ahh...Trump's pain. It's like medicine for the nation (those who are loyal to it anyway).

The president can fire the FBI Director if he doesn't like the color of his tie.

He did not fire Comey to stop an investigation. He fired him because Comey's a partisan incompetent boob.

If someone gives a President $1,000,000 to fire the FBI director, would that be legal? Acceptable?

Trump told Lester Holt the reason was Russia.

Again, you're revealing that you simply don't understand what was going on in the first place. Take, for example, the many, many fake Facebook accounts that were portrayed as local people that were used to try to influence the people in that area to vote one way or well, not vote in another. What's the inherent disinformation there?.

Wooooo.... Facebooks ads. Nothing is a bigger threat to our Constitutional republic than Facebook ads.

Now it is interesting that fake news from Germany never seemed to get the same attention as a supposed "disinformation campaign" from Russia. Claas Relotius was a German reporter and wrote for Germany's premiere magazine, Der Spiegel. It was discovered in December 2018 that he had falsified his articles on a grand scale. But this German fake news campaign never got the same attention as Russia. Why? Because he hated Trump supporters and rural America. So make up all the fake news about them you want.

The Columbia Journalism Review wrote,

"As his editors have since discovered, Relotius’s fabrications were brazen, extensive, and methodical. He registered false email addresses and Facebook accounts from invented sources to share with editors and fact-checkers. After being frustrated in his attempts to speak to Colin Kaepernick, Relotius falsely reported that he spoke on the phone with the player’s parents. He visited Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to write about a small town that had voted for Trump. He spent 38 days there and delivered a portrait of a community populated with individuals who either didn’t exist or who had names, medical conditions, or jobs that were invented. He fabricated a profile of a woman who traveled around the US witnessing death-row executions."

Unsurprisingly he won CNN's Journalist of the year award in 2014.

Blaming the political paralysis in DC on Trump-Russia stuff is a pathetic joke, and nothing more. Well, unless you're actually claiming that the Republican Party is in Russia's pocket.

Is this another fake news conspiracy theory you're offering now? The Republican party is controlled by Russia.

What specific bit of fake news are you refering to? Do you deny that he admitted to firing Comey because of the Russia investigation? That's the behaviour of a guilty man. And that's one of hundreds of examples.

It was perfectly legal for Trump to fire James Comey. The fake investigation into collusion extended under Special Counsel Robert Mueller for almost another 2 years.

That's absurd, CE.

And speaking of absurd, here's another GOP dodge of addressing Trump's outrageous statement he'd take information on his opponents from foreign governments: Steve Scalise, "It was just a hypothetical question."

Well, isn't this how the Trump-Russia collusion scam got started? We took information from foreign governments. It was Alexander Downer, a foreigner, who passed on the information to us about his meeting with George Papadopoulos. What about the Steele Dossier? It came from a foreigner, Christopher Steele. It is sourced to "Russian intelligence officers", "a senior Russian Foreign Ministry figure", "a Kremlin insider" etc. Whenever Leftists accuse their opponents of doing something dastardly you know they are doing it 10 times worse.

Trump told Lester Holt the reason was Russia.

And told the Russians that firing Comey had removed a lot of pressure from him. ETA: The pressure on him and his Administration that was there because of their ties with Russia, specifically.

Ahh, yes, that was shortly before he just gave away super top secret information to the Russians as if it were small talk material.

Wooooo.... Facebooks ads. Nothing is a bigger threat to our Constitutional republic than Facebook ads.

Well, given that interpretation, either you're a colossally confused idiot or a troll. I see that in either case, ridicule is probably the only reasonable response. Moving on.

My, your attempts at false equivalence and making up positions for others are as wonderful as ever.

No, but such is not totally and completely wrong. In other words, it's more complex than that. With that said, given your demonstrated reading comprehension, I strongly suspect that any efforts to elaborate further would be entirely wasted on you.

As long as you assume that, you back yourself into a ridiculous, reality-denying corner and end up with... the kind of bs that you spout.

How many times is the Steele Dossier cited as a footnote in the final report?

This should get the award for best "Look over there!" paragraph of the year.
