General UK politics VII -Return of the Starmer

Muslims aren't invading the UK and Europe in droves either. Do you not remember the last time you tried this and got your ass handed to you by people who actually knew what they were talking about?

Yes they are! Germany and France and Sweden have all been swamped, to name but three countries who have lived to regret the immigration of large numbers of Muslims. John Cleese said "London is no longer an English city".

I read an article which I believe was in the guardian, or some other paper which said Saudi Arabia was deliberately funding young Muslim men to come to the west with the aim of converting us to Islam.. I might be able to find that article, but it is a long way down my timeline on twitter.

Nope.

Don't you remember the previous discussion?

You do know countries perform a census right? We can look at religious demographics for countries?

Quick quiz for you. What do you think the percentage of the Swedish population is that are Muslims?

What about the UK?

Germany?

France?

Also please link to the article. Even if it exists I will bet money it doesn't say that Europe is being swamped.

Please take that particular discussion elsewhere.

In actual news, MRP polls are apparently all the rage, and now the Mirror has one up that suggest the tories would go third behind the Lib Dems.

It's from Electoral Calculus, so the figures are available here: https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/prediction_main.html

It also predicts 19 seats for Reform UK ltd. Either that is going to be very depressing or, when it comes to polling day, their followers will revert to previous preferences and the Tories will benefit.

I just hope Nigel Farage isn’t one of them.

Honestly I don't mind 19 reform MPs. I hate reform with a passion but it would more accurately reflect the will of the electorate.

It would show a significant chunk of it are drooling morons, but still.

I remember when UKIP got something like 15% of the popular vote, yet still ended up with no MP's (other than the one who defected from the tories). I detested UKIP and all it stood for, but for that many voters to not be represented in parliament was outrageous and frankly unconscionable.

Edit: Granted, some of those could be protest votes in safe tory seats, but still...

The British public really blew it when they rejected the Alternative Vote. We have a broken, unrepresentative system and we actually chose to keep it.

The problem being, of course, that any party in a position to make a change will have been elected under the current system, and they will be reluctant to change it since they might end up worse off next time around.

Oh! give me a break, I don't tell lies. I already said the person who posted the video on twitter said the following.

"Starmer promises to bring in Blasphemy laws against those who use the "slur" of Islamophobia, online or in person."

I took my view from that statement not from the video itself.

I posted it at post number 1256
The video doesn't support your assertions.

Christians have not crashed planes into skyscrapers. They have not tried to take over the middle east and turn it into an Islamic caliphate. And now they have lost that war, Christians are not invading Europe and Britain in droves.

If you people were on twitter you would know how bad it is getting, because people post details of Islamic violence, and their attempts to overwhelm the west.

There are things on twitter you never see on the television news. For example a recent incident in Pakistan was that a horde of Muslims dragged
a tourist out of a police station and burned him alive for desecrating the Quran. These people are fanatics.
Take a look at what the Xians are saying and doing.

Bollocks. You're spewing Islamaphobic lies again.

John Cleese said "London is no longer an English city".
Who cares what bigoted rubbish a tedious anti-"woke" crank spouts?

Of course you'll be providing evidence for this claim...

Also need a bottle of spirits to play the "Portillo Moment" drinking game.

Remember to play sensibly, sip per Tory, shot per front bench Tory, two for Sunak and Badenoch: chug the bottle.I

And no operating heavy machinery on the 5th (unless you happen to be working on Tufton St in which case :) go for it!)

According to the Tories and Reform, PR is one of the things Labour will bring in to ensure they are in power forever.

Farrage continues the "I'm not a Putin apologist, but..."-shtick
Speaking at a rally in Devon on Tuesday, Farage said: “Somehow, I am made out to be a Putin apologist, which of course I’m not. What he’s done in Ukraine is reprehensible.

“His Majesty’s Daily Mail, who have decided that I am one of the worst people that’s ever been born, not for the first time, just because I got up over 10 years ago and said that I felt the eastward expansion of Nato and the European Union would be used by a dangerous dictator as a reason to go to war.
..
“In Ukraine, I said, don’t poke the Russian bear with a stick because if you do you will get a very predictable result.”

The Guardian: Farage says Zelenskiy should seek Ukraine peace deal with Russia

Edit: Wasn't sure if it posted the first time, but the whole notion that Georgia and Ukraine joining NATO should have been placed on hold, because Putin could use it as an excuse to invade is, of course, blatantly absurd.

If you haven't noticed yet Fromage of the Fruitcake Stall, the Ruzzkies have been poking their biggest sticks at Ukraine for two years and more now, to no great effect.
