Bigfoot DNA

This would create major cognitive dissonance in the community, possibly the biggest in recent memory, possibly since the publication of Making Bigfoot.

Of course, her business might simply be under an embargo. Or in peer review. Perhaps her business just needs to dot the i's and cross the t's. Whatever is going on it is sure to be due to men in black, the logging industry, skeptics, Siense, or Tontar.

LOLOLOL......ok, that was pretty funny.

Someone is quoting a Facebook post by her(?) which purportedly says she is moving to a larger town, giving up the service business to concentrate on forensics and research projects.

If this is actually a statement by Ketchum, it seems quite vague. There seems to be no effort on her website to maintain continuity. Nor is she paying much attention to the state of Texas. I wonder if this means she's contemplating taking a job in someone else's business. But as what? This is a puzzle.

I'm gonna take a really wild-a**-guess that she shows up in California.

Okay, okay, okay, I admit it!!! Melba Ketchum is one of my pseudonyms, and my Ketchum Facebook page was the only way to effectively filter my IP address. But I really do have Dogman DNA, that part's true. ;-)

RRS, we just found an unidentified monkey last week.
Actually gigantor - you did not find a new monkey. factually , it was a group of primate researchers, unless you were part of that group?
and to be correct, the primate was well known to the local populace, having been kept as pets, and eaten on occasion. The discovery was actually a researcher recognizing that it was different than other closely related species, then going out and finding the proof. And it took a matter of days!

No. You are mistaken, and trying to pass judgement. Bigfoot does not exist. That is a very accurate statement. Feel free to prove otherwise. There is no animal "bigfoot". It's up to you to support the claim there is. The books already support my claim that there isn't. It's not there in taxonomy. It "doesnt exist".

As I said, you or one of your bigfoot buddies feel free to prove otherwise. I'm calling you out. If you want to claim it exists, support that claim. You can say "i don't know" and that is fine too. If you want to prove my statement wrong, I'm open to anything you present proving it. As far as "science" is concerned, bigfoot does not exist.

I beg to differ here Riiver. And i doubt if you are speaking for all science. If you ask me, as far as "Science" is concerned, it is currently awaiting and willing to examine any credible data or evidence that an unknown primate exists in North America. And in fact it has been waiting for 200 years or more, since Daniel Boone reported killing one!

. But so far, no credible data has been presented, in spite of the most expensive, most expansive, longest running, highest amount of effort search for a new species in history! So given that huge search, and continued lack of evidence, and continued hoax attempts by those who swear the thing exists, the trend line is clear!

Science can never prove the nonexistance of Bigfoot. But given the lack of data, after so much time and effort, over so many years, it can move on with the presumption that no such animal exists, and put the burden of proof onto those true believers!

Well after all, since she was involved in the ID of victims from 9/11, ( if you don't believe me, just ask her - she publically stated that - at least on 2 seperate occasions, once on the radio) so since she has done that - she probably figured she was wasting her talents doing this piddly bigFoot stuff.
I wonder what all of her PHD collaborators are going to do now? they were counting on that paper making their careers!

We have previously seen BBB complaints re Ketchum's lab. Here is a different site; note the last complaint is from a Bigfoot believer who sent her a skull!!!

Oh yes, that was Tom, supposedly a bigfoot mother abandoned a bigfoot baby in his drive way. He wasn't sure why, but it might have had something to do with a prehensile tail he said it had. So instead of taking it to the nearest hospital, human or otherwise, or a zoo, he put it back in the woods to die. He went back and collected the skull later and sent it to Melba.

Thanks for bringing this back up, it is a lesson for those that keep using the discovery of new small species as a ticket toward some day finding a Bigfoot, a small monkey has little to do with a giant 500 pound plus human size animal, to even use the discovery of a small monkey as a comparison to a giant bipedal ape, is in my book a lot of hope and faith in what is now very obvious a cult that has no boundaries.

You basically echoed my sentiments. I've said all along that all it would take is someone producing the monkey to change my mind. Won't be happening though, just like all the other social constructs. No amount of hemming and hawing can change that.

It is much like trying to prove mermaids do not exist. But we still know for sure they do not. Just as we know T rex is extinct.

Bigfoot = does not exist.

Does anyone think a study actually took place or do you think she did the testing and just didn't find what the footers were hoping for?

I think it may be to early to tell for sure. I have reached out to a couple of true believers who insisted they were in regular contact with Melba. So far they have not responded. i suspect that they may have a better feel for the circumstances, but maybe not. I assume however that their take will be "the scientific community was so threatened by this bombshell, they had to make sure she failed".

The thing that struck me as odd, and was consistent among the people i communicated with, who had donated samples:

None of them had any idea what genes were tested? what part of the DNA they looked at, how those data were suposedly analyzed. All they knew was "well first mitochondrial DNA - but that didnt work, because it showed human, so she did nuclear DNA". but thats all - a glittering generality!

, on top of being slapped in the face with a wet tuna - mitochondrial showed "100 % Human" so instead of accepting that, obviously the DNA had to be wrong!

So I originally thought Melba was a true believer, but I am now swinging toward the scam "I wanna be on TV" mode.

Bat **** crazy would be my 3rd guess!

I suspect it was a con/hoax/lie from the beginning, Jodie. When it comes to anything BF a person making a BF claim should be held guilty of lying until proven innocent.

That is a good one Jodie, something i have been pondering since i first heard of this BF DNA.

Why would anyone even bother to have anything tested, they know it would not come back as a Bigfoot. It's one thing to claim a sighting or hitting one, but to dice up something and have it tested like it was a BF takes a qualified dummy or someone that needs medical help. :D

Now i can easily see any lab doing the test cause that's how they make money, bring it in and we will test it no problem. But! For a to lab jump on the BF band wagon there has to be another reason, i would think anyone in the lab with a brain knows there ain't no BF in the first place. Some place in all this is the key to finding out what and who is the marketing person behind all this. Hum ! did i say Marketing ?

And don't forget that Melba, or someone pretending to be her, claims to have regular contact with bigfoots.

Melba Ketchum did claim to observe bigfoots. It looks like a continual lie, to keep getting tests submitted. There were many times testing was reopened and submissions requested. (all paid for by her benefactor of course) I suspect money grab with no intentions of a paper, if it ever existed. Has anyone seen this alleged paper? Not to my knowledge.

It is ridiculous to read some of the footer responses. "shes moving on to bigger and better venue, to continue the paper etc" Uhm, generally speaking when people don't pay their taxes it is not because they are successful, and "moving up" in any way at all. It is because they lack the funds to do so. The information that has surfaced about her businesses seems to back this up.

I think all of it was complete confabulation. I remember asking someone about their results, I think it was SouthernYahoo, I'm not sure, but whoever it was said all they got was a page of sequences with no interpretation attached to it. NDA aside, because I doubt she would have the resources to file a suit, why doesn't someone take their results and give it to a university to run through BLAST to see if it's gibberish?
