I suspect it was a con/hoax/lie from the beginning, Jodie. When it comes to anything BF a person making a BF claim should be held guilty of lying until proven innocent.

And you see, this is a problem. When someone accuses someone of lying, there needs to be evidence of that otherwise it's simply unethical. Anyone claiming they exist or claiming they don't would need to provide in some form evidence of that.

I too expressed early in the thread on the BFF that we had no assurance that there ever was a paper to submit somewhere. clayflingythingy is right: when it comes to bigfoot, there's no reason to take ANY claim as accurate until it can be somehow verified.

I think all of it was complete confabulation. I remember asking someone about their results, I think it was SouthernYahoo, I'm not sure, but whoever it was said all they got was a page of sequences with no interpretation attached to it. NDA aside, because I doubt she would have the resources to file a suit, why doesn't someone take their results and give it to a university to run through BLAST to see if it's gibberish?

someone get me a sequence, i will run it through BLAST and put it through GenBank to see what pops out. The sequence that was delivered should actually have been run through BLAST or other program to edit and clean up the data, but that would be a competent lab.

If anyone wants to see how a competent and professional lab runs, i will be working in my lab in Utah, Near salt Lake city Monday Oct 29th. I have to look at some sequences we produced, and try to figure out all the weird stuff it is telling me. Unfortunately not BF DNA, but DNA nonethe less. So if anyone is interested in seeing the inside of a working lab, and starting to get an understanding of how it all works - PARTICULALRY YOU SOUTHERN YAHOO! you are more than welcome to meet up with me and tag along. just pm me to get it set up! we will actually take your DNA and run it as a control if you would like!

Not sure what you mean by that. I nor any other scientist I know of have ever required a NDA? If you are refering to ketchums NDA? didn't she routinely violate that by opportunistically "leaking" bits and piecs of supposed results, apparently to keep the buzz going?

if i am running CO1 sequences, it will tell me what species you are, and how closely rerlated you are to other species!
. Hopefully that will dispell all of the rumors and claims that lawyers are not human! (although it cannot reveal your "rank " of humanity, so you are on your own in dispelling the "lowest form of human" claims I often here / see made!

If your guess is somewhere in the right ballpark, it'd be 200/1. That's a fairly safe bet (in terms of EV) given the plausible deniability regarding proof. I mean: I very much doubt Lloyds would pay out over a DNA 'primate unknown'. They'd presumably only have to pay out on a case of "Look Ma! An unambiguous bigfoot". Given the number of those that have turned up in the last fifty years, they're on fairly solid ground.

I took that post as a typical BFF footer response, too much fear being spread around about this NDA stuff. Another control switch installed by the perpetrators of the DNA hoax.

We have previously seen BBB complaints re Ketchum's lab. Here is a different site; note the last complaint is from a Bigfoot believer who sent her a skull!!!

My God, everything you dug up - good work by the way - makes me feel bad. It isn't a laughing matter, just like with Roger Patterson leaving such a long trail of bad checks, bad debt, unpaid bills, sponsors screwed, rights sold multiple times, etc.

We keep hearing "what's the harm" with fuzzy 'ole bigfoot. Well there isn't a trail of poop like this left behind fun myths that do not masquerade as real like the Easter Bunny or Leprechauns. Nor are science labs being taken up looking for Easter Bunny DNA.

The very best of the con-men like Merldumb perfect an act of pretending they are not advocates, a stain on science as a field. "Charitable Organizations" like TBRC being used as tax write-offs for con-man hobbies.

Yet I am drawn to it all in the same way I am fascinated by serial killers. Because it is real, despite its wretchedness, and coming to understand it is pursuit of science.

David Paulides, who has apparently been closely associated with Ketchum, wrote that an "anonymous" i.e. unnamed donor has contributed "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to the DNA project.

This puts her in the Patterson/DeAtley and Meldrum class, amirite? (Paulides is probably also in this group.)

That was a potentially deceptive piece, big surprise there, about no payments to The Melba for her "time". So there are payments, amounting to hundreds of thousands. But who is to say The Melba is being honest about what she is using the money for. Zero reporting of results points to the necessity of auditing instead of just taking her word for what she is spending money on.

So sure, this potentially places her in the top tier.
