Gigantic new ICBMs got shown off at a parade... going by size, the kind that the USA, UK, France, USSR/Russia, and China have has...
For those of you living under a cabbage leaf, it has been announced that the little blusterer and the big blusterer are going to get together for a summit.
It is to take place, purportedly, sometime in May.
This merits its own thread and might even belong in general politics(of the Non-USA...
I've heard many times that the war wasn't ended, only paused, and also that North Korea doesn't want the war to formally end. If the US President were to want to end the war, how would they go about it, and are there reasons to keep it at the current range of hostility?
N. Korea is determined to develop the capacity to nuke us, and we're just as determined to stop them. China seems incapable of brokering a deal. Maybe they want our economy derailed by yet another war. Trump and Kim are both egoists who seem incapable of backing down. I don't see how we avoid...
U.N. Ambassador Haley gets backlash after tweeting about July 4 work forgetting just how many US military are also working on the 4th.
The reply was swift:
The sad news on the US student, Otto Warmbier, returned home to his family, is that he has died. He was jailed in North Korea for a prank and sent back to the USA in a coma, after 15 months of his sentence, with brain trauma.

According to ABC News Kim Jong Un of North Korea launched a missile. The missile promptly malfunctioned and didn't become airborne.
The question on the minds of millions is "what next?".

Not sure how dangerous this move is by Trump in sending a strike fleet to the Korean Perpendicular, but it seems to have a...

Pretty predictable move by North Korea, keep the pot stirring.
Problem is that it is an embarrassment for both China and the US, and NK might end up getting the US and China on the same page on...
It seems like things have been escalating for some time. But this is the first time I heard the same kind of rhetoric from South Korea. In fact, it's almost the same thing NK said, about "reducing the country to ashes". (They really should fire that speech writer...)
I had the first bad...
Oh. Goody. An even bigger idiot to direct attention away from Rob Ford.

I don't know if this belongs in the USA Politics thread or here (it concerns the US to an extent, but in relation to N.Korea, so Mods move if you wish)
I am kinda at my wits end about North Korea. The people are starving to death, their leadership is nuts, and China isn't doing much but...
Link.
First, I don't buy it. This is not a "breakthrough" until inspectors show up, and genuine changes begin. Presently, North Korea uses CANDU reactors which produce enriched plutonium, (IIRC: If someone has better info, please post it.) There's no guarantee that DPRK will actually open...
So sayeth the BBC. As a reward, Best Korea gets a food aid package from the US.
I know North Korea has a long history of saying one thing and doing another, but I have a hard time seeing how this is not a good thing. I hope it's a sign that the new leadership is about to turn a new page in...
Semi-dated (Must have been written around 2004) interesting read on the North's Military Capabilities.

In A War With US"
Come on. North Korea is Total GDP is 94th in the world and it's per capita 1900$. I doubt they could afford it. I was always under the...

are they really gonna do this?
NK really is cruisin' for a bruisin'. Maybe its time they finally get it.
If they fire one single missile, and its trajectory is within 1,000 feet of an American ship or plane, I say we blow these **** ers back to...
I always assumed that any new Korean war would be fought mostly with missiles and artilery.
Am I wrong about this? Would NK actually stage a land invasion with hundreds of thousands of troops and tanks?
what would America's involvement be?
and most importantly, would NK attack Japan and...

this is serious crap.
how should South Korea respond? any military response could lead to total war..and the deaths of hundreds of thousands.
but North Korea can't think it can just get away with this. there has to be...

Perhaps this should go in the CT forum - I'll let the moderator decide!
OK, there are two festering problems with American foreign policy right now - American incursion into Pakistan, and North Korea's nuclear defiance. We haven't heard as much about them in the press as I would expect.
I...
Linky
Well, that didn't take long. I thought NK would at least wait until they got most of the stuff they were supposed to get before pulling one of these.
And there you have it. If the Guardian can figure it out, then it's far from a subtle ploy.
I didn't see any other thread titles on this, amazingly enough, so thought I would chime in. It appears the "decider" decided that although communicating with Iran over their nuclear program would be "appeasement", its perfectly fine to talk to and even, gasp, _negotiate_ with NK by easing some...
