[Continuation] Corona Virus Conspiracy Theories Part V

Honestly, I'm of the opinion that expectations held firmly enough can cause... unusual reactions to all kind of things, so I wouldn't automatically discount such categorically, myself. That the cause then would be people working themselves into some kind of psychological frenzy rather than as an actual side effect of the vaccines is another matter, of course. With that said, motivated/attention-seeking acting is fairly certainly a safer bet for a trend like that.

Twitter included this warning with that post:

So your explanation could be right.

I'd call it acting even so.

Twitter Has No Answers for #DiedSuddenly

The latest anti-vaccine conspiracy theory is taking off easily on platforms that have no interest in shutting it down.

Short version? A person dies suddenly and covid vaccines are blamed without any actual evidence. Rinse, repeat, amplify.

Add that, well -

They are supported by a recent video, Died Suddenly, that bills itself as “the documentary film of a generation.” The hour-long movie has spread unchecked on Rumble, a moderation-averse video-streaming platform, and Twitter, which abandoned its COVID-misinformation policy two days after the film premiered in November. It puts forth the familiar conspiracy theory that the vaccines were engineered as a form of population control, illustrated by stomach-turning footage of funeral directors and embalmers removing “white fibrous clots” that “look like calamari” from the corpses of people who have purportedly been vaccinated against COVID-19. (There are also some clips of Lee Harvey Oswald and the moon landing, for unclear reasons.)

Died Suddenly has been viewed nearly 20 million times and cheered on by far-right personalities such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Candace Owens. It was released by the Stew Peters Network, whose other videos on Rumble have titles like “Obama Formed Shadow Government BEFORE Plandemic” and “AIRPORTS SHUT DOWN FOR EVERYONE BUT JEWS!” And its creators are already asking for donations to fund a sequel, Died Suddenly 2, which promises to explore “deeper rabbit holes.” (Nicholas Stumphauzer, one of the film’s directors, did not respond to questions, other than to say that the production team was motivated by a desire to "stop the globalist death cult.")

*facepalm*

back to the Cleveland Clinic preprint on the bivalent booster

We have previously discussed this unpublished study here and in the Science sub-forum. MedPageToday cited a Tampa Bay Times article that covered DeSantis misstatement about it. DeSantis is not the only person guilty of twisting this study, but he is one of the more prominent people to do so.

"Nabin Shrestha, an infectious disease physician and one of the study’s authors, told PolitiFact that the data did not find a link between the bivalent shot and a higher risk of contracting COVID-19. The early conclusion was the opposite of what DeSantis said: The dose is, in fact, effective in preventing infection...“Those who were studied were health care workers: more likely to be exposed, more likely to be vaccinated as well,” [epidemiologist Rene] Najera told PolitiFact. “If the study is found to be sound through peer review, its findings would only be applicable to health care workers in large settings such as the Cleveland Clinic, not the general public.”"

died suddenly and then replaced?

NBC reported, "Anti-vaccine activists who believe without evidence that a Covid vaccine caused Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest this month have pivoted to a new conspiracy theory to explain his swift recovery: that the Buffalo Bills safety has been replaced by a body double." I am not making this up.

Bog standard conspiracy tactics: Never admit a mistake, just make up new and more bizarre stuff to force your conspiracy to approximate reality.

Yeah, I saw the guy who made the Died Suddenly video posting pictures of Damar Hamlin saying the guy's comparing two pictures of his ear saying it looks different.

His Twitter feed is a slurry of reactionary politics and demands to hang public health officials at "Nuremburg 2.0".

Truly a nasty PoS.

That goes for all those of us who got vaccinated! We died and the chips in the vaccines make us think we're still alive, but it's a virtual reality, one in which even Damar Hamlin appears to be alive. In fact, that's how you know that you are living in the matrix: In the real world Hamlin's certifiably dead!
So if you're an antivaxxer who can see Hamlin, it's not a body double. It's because one of the vaccinated sheeples has shed the vaccine on you, and you're in the matrix, too.

But is it a long-form death certificate?

If you use Reddit, you should check out r/Qult_Headquarters which details these idiots’ outpourings - there are frequent claims posted on there that Biden, Clinton, Obama, and many more have been executed and replaced with clones. Within seconds of Hamlin appearing at a recent Bills game there were claims that it wasn’t him, it was a clone.

... Within seconds of Hamlin appearing at a recent Bills game there were claims that it wasn’t him, it was a clone.

If someone has the technology not only to clone people, but to clone them with all their talents and skills, where will it end?

A cycling team scooping the Tour de France because each day the team is replaced by their fresh and rested alternate clone team. An all-conquering tennis doubles team of the best doubles player in the world and their clone wearing a false beard and glasses. (She'd have got away with it if it hadn't been for the beard.)

Trump—whose management of the pandemic was generally a disaster—is compiling evidence against DeSantis showing that he endorsed the most obvious basic public health measure against Covid, according to NYT reporting.
Trump and DeSantis try to out anti-vaxx each other (MSNBC on YouTube, Feb 2, 2023)

I hadn't heard about this movement until I saw this Danish article:
Vaccineskeptikere vil have egne blodbanker med 'rent blod' (TV2.dk, Jan 30, 2023)
Vaccine skeptics want their own blood banks with 'pure blood'

Do these blood banks storing only blood from and for the unvaccinated actually exist anywhere?

if done right, all white blood cells are filtered out of blood donations - it would be very hard to detect if a blood pack came from someone vaccinated or not.

On an unrelated note, I'm willing to sell my 100% Pureblood for only $1000 a pack.

Ah I'm willing the sell my 120% purebood for only $999.95 for a pack with a packet of M & Ms mixed in witch that horse medicine thrown in.

I, on the other hand, will start an alternative business. Have a rich relative in the hospital that you want to send packing? Want to get ahead in the corporate rat race? Buy my guaranteed impure blood. I've been vaccinated against absolutely everything. Three boosters, all sorts of extra optional things, and even got a new polio shot after childhood Salk and Sabin both. I've been shot for tetanus so many times in the last 75 years my jaw is down to my navel. My blood is so full of nanobots and chemicals and rogue antibodies it glows in the dark and forages for its own lunch. I'm as full of death as a drugstore!

A little drop'll do ya. Send for the brochure now.

Here's a nice write-up of the Damar Hamlin COVID CTs:

https://news.yahoo.com/moving-goalposts-nfl-scare-reveals-020206020.html

Their new narrative insisted Hamlin had died from his Covid-19 shots and a clone, body double or actor had replaced him to conceal "the truth."

"I still have not seen any proof Damar Hamlin is alive," far-right radio host Stew Peters wrote three days later on Telegram, demanding that Hamlin "cut a video" to prove he was alive. When Hamlin posted a video days later, Peters and others suggested the clip was a deepfake created with artificial intelligence. They argued Hamlin's ears looked awry, tattoos appeared missing and movements seemed jittery.

Their refusal to accept Hamlin's apparent recovery demonstrates how those steeped in conspiracy theories often move the goalposts when confronted with information debunking their claims. "One of the things about conspiracies that makes them so resilient is that the supposed 'evidence' that supports them is constantly changing," Gordon Pennycook, a behavioral scientist at the University of Regina in Canada, told AFP.

"The beliefs are often not actually rooted in evidence, but instead are formed by dodging evidence," he added.

When I was a kid I was skeptical of science fiction movies depicting a future where people were so easily fooled. Now I get it.

News from the actual pandemic conspiracy. The one that conspiracy nuts adore:
Brownstone Institute admits that the Great Barrington Declaration was wrong without admitting it was wrong (Science-Based Medicine, Feb 20, 2023)

One of the interesting aspects of the USA response was the relative difference in infection rates amongst those under 65 v over 65. Here in Calif., the infection rates were about half as much among elderly after about mid 2020 until Omicron. There was an initial surge at old age homes but after about mid 2020, that problem was mostly addressed. I suspect that the reason is that the elderly recognized they were more at risk and adjusted their behavior accordingly. I certainly did and I'm in that category.

A side effect is that the crude calculated IFR (percentage dying assuming an entire population gets infected) did not include this age infection skew. This resulted in understating IFR.

My elderly parents weren't planning on getting vaccinated. My mother worked in the office of an anti-vaxxer chiropractor before she retired and got contaminated by his ideas (my brother and I were both fully vaccinated as children, but my mother is an intellectual weathervane). Then their neighbor, a man they've been friends with since before I was born, died of COVID-19. That changed their minds.

So the usual suspects are having a field day since apparently a Department of Energy says there is “low confidence” that COVID originated from a lab leak in China. Of course the usually crowd is blaming Fauci, claiming vindication for every claim they ever made, etc.

I’m a bit confused as I wonder why this is the Department of Energy’s purview?

I’m a bit confused as I wonder why this is the Department of Energy’s purview?

It really isn't. Having contracted for Dept. of Energy and having held a security clearance there, I'm puzzled at this.

The counterintelligence part not so much. Dept. of Energy does pretty much everything in the U.S. that deals with nuclear weapons, so it really needs to protect that work from espionage. And a lot of its non-nuclear work has strategic advantage. That's why the department has a security and classification structure that's on par with everything else in government work and why their sites are some of the best guarded and protected anywhere in the world.

The intelligence office, however, doesn't do any sort of general intelligence gathering. They're not the CIA or the NSA. They participate in the national intelligence community and report to the DNI because they have subject-matter expertise in energy and exotic weaponry, even beyond what the Dept. of Defense has. Dept. of Energy can direct national intelligence efforts toward getting information about foreign energy prospects and nuclear capabilities, and in turn interprets that information in the best way to inform national policy. It follows that they will be privy to intelligence estimates in other areas. But the notion that the Dept. of Energy has anything to do with public health or pandemics or gathering intelligence of that ilk is frankly wrong. My guess is that this was an intelligence estimate provided by another national intelligence service that somehow found its way into a Dept. of Energy report.

Hence my immediate suspicion that politics is likely involved here, given how out of place it is. The specifics, of course, I obviously hesitate to say with any certainty, but I'd be utterly unsurprised if it was a ploy to pander to the Republicans in the House when it comes to budget allocations, for example.

The WSJ DoE story sounds like a conversation at a cocktail party, turned into a headline. If anything, this is an illustration of just how bad the news media has become with basic fact-checking.

When will these idiots stop? Unfortunately when their poor choices kill them.

An Ivermectin Influencer Died. Now His Followers Are Worried About Their Own ‘Severe’ Symptoms. (vice.com)

Not much to do with Covid. He has been taking horsepaste for 10 years in the belief it cured Lyme disease. Apparently there are many that think IVM is some magic elixer good for whatever ails you. Had no idea this was a "thing."

Unclear what he died from let alone a "a common side effect of the medication." as the link states.

I see from the comments that one person who has been assailed by the side effects of ivermectin wonders if they were caused by a tapeworm, and announced that she'll keep on taking ivermectin as a remedy for the ivermectin, and another says: "“No one can convince me that he died because of ivermectin,” one member wrote this week. “He ultimately died because of our failed western medicine which only cares about profits and not the cure.” The cure for what? Ivermectin overdose? Hopeless!

Andrew Bridgen MP, who has already had the whip withdrawn by the Conservative Party, stood up in Parliament on Friday to repeat a lot of conspiracy theories. The chamber emptied, in protest, I suspect, which has been taken as a sign that he was being silenced by big Pharma. I haven't seen a rebuttal of the points he made in the video (and I don't have the time or patience to go through it), but there was one back in January (and I'm guessing he doesn't have new figures).

This is one of the sources of Bridgen's claims - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9428332/

It seems to be saying that the risks of the vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) were higher than not having them.

3.4. Harm-benefit considerations
In the Moderna trial, the excess risk of serious AESIs (15.1 per 10,000 participants) was higher than the risk reduction for COVID-19 hospitalization relative to the placebo group (6.4 per 10,000 participants). [3] In the Pfizer trial, the excess risk of serious AESIs (10.1 per 10,000) was higher than the risk reduction for COVID-19 hospitalization relative to the placebo group (2.3 per 10,000 participants).

I suspect I'm not understanding something here.

ETA: And also these UK government figures on the number of people needing to be vaccinated to prevent a hospitalisation from Covid.

I'm not sure, but I suspect it comes down to what an AESI *is*. It does not include all adverse effects of having COVID. The "SI" part points to a specific effect from the vaccine that can also show up with the disease albeit less frequently. This does not make the vaccines less safe than the disease. It seems like playing with statistics.

I could be completely wrong here.

I suspect it's the fact the lead author (Dr. Joseph Fraiman) is a quack.

From - https://www.realclearpolitics.com/v...ration_proponents_you_guys_were_correct.html#!

"Also, personally, I would like to apologize to the three other scientists sitting with me here on Zoom, the proponents of the [Great] Barrington Declaration," Fraiman said. "Initially, I did think y'all were crazy, or dumb, or maybe you just didn't understand what I was seeing. But I now realize -- I'm sorry because I believe now you guys were correct. And you were correct from the beginning and I wish that more people, including myself, have realized that sooner. And I hope more people realize that soon enough."

I could go on about this nut's misinformation, but it's all the same old story...

At the risk of playing the man, note the name of the last author - Peter Doshi.

SBM, especially Gorski, and Gorski's Orac-ian guise have given Doshi's "ideas" around vaccination and Covid a thorough kicking in the last couple of years.

Also, this one is kinda covereded in one of the Full Fact links, i.e. we are into correlation does not necessarily equal causation land. Not to mention there is a distinct feel of catch-all and fishing trip about it, with any sort of unrelated condition being thrown into the mix, from psychosis to abcesses, in the apparent hope that something sticks. Pretty standard "Oh noes, I'm NOT anti-vax, just pro safe vax!" stuff, as seen for years.

Since I got not only four Pfizer jabs but also one Communist Soberana Plus, I suppose I'll be entirely remote controlled any day now.

Scientists through autopsies show there is a parasite in the vaccine that lays an egg that bursts out and something comes out with tentacles.

I was hoping for a video or at least a photo, but nothing so far.

Oh goody!

Without going through all her nonsense, is this any different to the previous claims about nanobots, weird parasites and the like which have been around for some time (covered on SBM, Orac and all the usual suspects)?

Idaho: A state of beauty . . . and imbeciles.

“I thought we believed in a patient-doctor relationship. So why is the government stepping in and telling these doctors that they can’t do that (administer drugs they believe are effective) to their patients?” asked Sen. Tammy Nichols at the Idaho Freedom Foundation’s “Capitol Clarity” event on Thursday. That’s a decent argument. It just sounds a little strange coming from the mouth of a lawmaker who is in the midst of promoting a bill that would jail doctors, nurses and pharmacists who administer most brands of COVID-19 vaccines. But Nichols was talking about ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication that has repeatedly shown no efficacy in treating COVID-19, not vaccines, which have demonstrated a high degree of efficacy in preventing severe disease and death.

Along with cosponsor Rep. Judy Boyle, R-Midvale, Nichols was promoting House Bill 307. The bill and its predecessor have both been printed by the House Health and Welfare Committee, but neither has been granted a hearing. The purpose of the Freedom Foundation’s Capitol Clarity event was to try to get supporters to contact their lawmakers and get it moving. With the bill, Nichols and Boyle are seeking to place the government — the police specifically — right in the middle of the doctor-patient relationship. The bill would make it a misdemeanor to administer vaccines that use mRNA technology, like the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, punishable by up to a year in jail. On top of the jail time, there’s a bonus for charging doctors with a misdemeanor, Nichols told the gathered audience of around 30 people. They’ll lose their license after they get out.
