Bigfoot: The Invisible Variety

Golly, what a thread! If Invisible Bigfoot were visible I'm sure he would be visibly blushing at all the attention. :shy:

Speaking of Invisible Bigfoot (hope that's not a derail), since Bigfoot has developed powers of invisibility, isn't it only a matter of time before he extends those powers to baffle our other senses:

Inaudible Bigfoot?
Intangible Bigfoot?
Ingustable Bigfoot?
Inolfactible(?) Bigfoot???

And really, how do we know he hasn't already reached the stage of complete undetectability?
We don't.
How can we know?
We can't.
Isn't it time then to face the hard facts?
Isn't the awful truth plain to see, as plain to see as Undetectable Bigfoot isn't?

Skeptics: in the face of our staggering ignorance of this perfectly camouflaged creature, must we not now admit it is all but certain that the earth has been overrun by Undetectable Bigfoots? That there's one living in your garage; another in the rec room; one sleeping with your girlfriend; a couple coming by tomorrow to watch the Notre Dame game --- how long can we be expected to keep up this noxious charade, pretend we aren't but serfs, thralls, pets, playthings at the mercy of a worldwide master race of Undetectable Bigfoots?

Well, maybe 'til next Tuesday... but that's it!

Gotta agree, blobru. Let me be the first to welcome our new hirsute overlords. I must venerate any species that would go to those lengths to get away from people like historian!

Stacks and stacks of "I saw bigfoot!" reports are not evidence that bigfoot is real.

Was the senator patting you on the head when he said that?

Trying to extort another job, are we?

Not saying that they are real or not,,, but the state of Florida did have a bill on the table a few years back to protect the Florida Skunk Ape. So are they trying to pass a bill on something that is not real?

Well... yeah. They are.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and there are a bunch of believers who can squeal really loud.

There's a really obvious PIGI joke in there but I think I've done enough just planting the seeds.

It's been done before, but not for the reason you think.

It has more to do with stopping the knuckleheads running around the woods with guns looking for a "humanoid" type beast and shooting at other knuckleheads doing the same thing.

This subject comes up again and again. It's still not established whether or not Skamania County, Washington, has or once had a bigfoot protection ordinance, but it would not surprise me if it did, just as both New York and Vermont have resolutions protecting the mythical lake monster Champ. It's partly a matter of preventing a bunch of fortune seeking nimrods from rushing out to the woods or out on the lake to bag a beast, and partly, in some cases, a publicity issue, an attempt to lure curious and credulous tourists, as in the case of Whitehall, NY, which has attempted (with little success, by the way) to parlay a dubious bigfoot sighting into an injection of energy into its moribund economy, or Port Henry, NY, which has done the same with Champ somewhat more successfully. Of course if the critters were conclusively proven not to be real, these bills would be pretty difficult to promote, but protecting a putative or mythical creature is cheap and harmless, and without negative consequence. It is not a sign that somebody in the legislature is privy to information we don't have, or that there really is anything out there to protect.

Well I do have a bell that I ring that keeps all groundhogs out of my county. I've been ringing this bell for about 39 years now and I have not seen one grondhog in Gulf County Florida.

That may be true, but it doesn't mean it keeps away the invisible interdimensional groundhogs.

We have a neighborhood bassethound that keeps tigers and lions away from the kids. He does a great job!

What do you do about the invisible sharks that are just below the pavement? I won't let my kid out without his lucky rock. It's the only way I've found to keep him safe from them. Seems to scare them off for quite a way as the local paper has never had a story of any invisible terrestrial shark attacks. :boxedin:

Of course not! The government suppresses them. Haven't you learned anything?

This is what we in ...........<snip!>.........us!

Hello Hist.
I see you have continued on your current strategy of haunting rational forums.
When you engaged Beckjord over on Shermer's, I must admit, it was entertaining seeing one woo squabbling with another woo.

My question though is this...why continue posting on skeptic/rational boards?
Is it to drum up business for the Oregon enterprise or have you actually "converted" someone this way.

My point is the "Bigfoot" boards would seem to be your most likely and lucrative audience.

Is there some other reason for this approach? Perhaps a deep psychological need to have rational people endorse the irrational to give some sense of legitimacy to the "claims". Yes, I put claims in parentheses, because such wild stretches of the imagination are even extreme for a zit infested adolescent sitting around the camp fire, spinning tales to frighten his/her fellow campers.

Anyway, have a good day and thanks for reading.
