Trump 2.0 won't be as bad as they say

He ****** up the withdrawl. There's no ifs, ands, or buts. Maybe there was no way to do it perfectly, but we didn't just not do it perfectly, we did it badly. Really, really badly. We were not prepared. There were a TON of issues where we were just caught completely flat-footed, and we shouldn't have been.

That's not Trump's fault.

I have confusion here. I seem to recall that by and large, Democrats and liberals wanted the US out of the middle east for a couple of decades. When Obama took office, there was generally voiced hope that their administration would get us out of Afghanistan. That didn't happen, and I believe that was a cause of dissatisfaction for many liberals in the US. Trump set in motion the steps to get us out of Afghanistan, and liberals hated them for it. Biden oversaw the removal, and it's Trump's fault.

Am I remembering this incorrectly?

FWIW, I don't think we should have left. Our withdrawal has done more harm than good in Afghanistan specifically and the middle east generally.

Mere months after identifying a new disease some scientists and doctors had differences of opinion on how to deal with aspects of the disease. I don't see a problem here. Science advances on identifying and working through differences of opinion. What do you intend this article to support?

:boxedin: It wasn't a new disease. It was a new variant of a virus that is endemic to the human species. It was a particularly sucktastic version of the common chest cold.

Trump! It's all Trump's fault! :D

Nope. Without the cowardly and sycophantic Republicans in the House and the Senate, he could not have done what he did. If they'd stood up to him, including convicting him in the impeachment trials, he'd be long gone.

Now here we have an intelligent post. Reads just like a Trump rant.

Nah, I'm just laughing at the hyperbolic rhetoric. I mean, in this thread there's one poster who says "it's going to be worse than Trump's first term, but probably not quite as bad as some of you seem to think" and they got called delusional for not buying in to the end of the world narrative.

I swear some of you are busy riling yourselves up to frothing irrationality. Are you trying to justify the violence you intend to commit if Trump somehow ends up winning this absurd election foisted upon us by two parties that don't give a single **** about any of you?

Trump! It's all Trump's fault! :D

Is it? Even I have never said that.

Still, Trump proved himself to be a major moron. Suggesting people to inject bleach into their veins and take Ivermectin. COVID was a great opportunity for even a decent politician. He could be a leader and easily win reelection.

Instead, he blamed China, he attacked Fauci, embraced wild conspiracy theories and divided the country.

Bull ****. Much of what they were recommending wasn't based on any information at all, it was pulled out of their ass. The 6 feet separation thing? That didn't come from any study, that was just an ass pull.

But it's worse than that. The changing mask recommendation wasn't an ass pull, it was a lie. I understand why they lied, they didn't want a run on masks at the start when masks were in short supply, but it was still a lie.

But it's even worse than that, because some of the lies weren't even motivated by any greater good. The attempts to bury the lab leak hypothesis weren't based on the best information available at the time. Fauci knew that the suppression was a lie. He did it to cover his own ass.

Oh, he's not the only villain in this story, sure. But then, neither is Trump, no matter how much you want him to be.
Since they didn't have years of research to draw for a novel virus they had to do what they could. A million Americans did die from COVID and Trump went within a whisker of death.

They did what they could with what they had while they started research.

Is hyperbolic rhetoric about what terrible things a terrible person might do better or worse than lying for the benefit of that terrible person? Asking for a friend who is a “centrist”.

The hyperbole is coming from inside the house.
