As for the "one-in-a-million shot" thing. Shooting through the earlobe without hitting anything else might have been an incredible shot, especially considering that a head is going to move around a bit even if it looks stationary. It's not like hitting a dime affixed to a stationary target, it's more like hitting a dime dangling from short bit of string that moves a bit in the breeze. That's not really Texas Sharpshooter, it's more like disproving the narrative that this was staged.
You would not have a bunch of people conspiring in a back room, planning all of this out, saying "okay, at 5 minutes into the speech he'll turn his head to the right and you, 20 year old kid, will put a 5.56 round right through the earlobe without hitting anything else". It seems obvious that he was aiming for something else (like the head) and (mostly) missed...unless?
....unless he really missed. From what I understand, a 5.56 round at that range might not make a neat little hole in an earlobe, it might instead blow the whole ear off. I have seen suggested that Trump might instead have been wounded by debris from some other object that got hit. Like maybe a bit of glass from a teleprompter, or a bit of metal from a speaker stand. Or just a bullet fragment resulting from the bullet hitting something else first.
From what I recall of the Las Vegas concert mass shooting, many of the injuries from from bullet fragments and debris from the bullets hitting stage equipment and other objects.
