Merged Trump shot in PA??

It's way too early, we barely know anything and even the fact that the guy was a registered republican means nothing. People register to parties for many reasons including just voting against people or getting into their spam to know when conventions like this would take place.

well, i don't think it means nothing. it means people not to stop and think about why a registered republican would want to shoot the president. and it means he wasn't a registered dem, so they can't plaster that all over the news and have a bunch of people jump to conclusions that way.

i actually think it's pretty interesting if it turns out being the case. if he was radicalized by the left, ok well the whole thing makes sense, the left hates trump. but if he was radicalized by the right, well, why would the extreme right want to take a shot at trump? much more interesting question.

either way it gives the less rational among us a reason to stop and think about who they're supposed to be mad at.

Well it was certainly incredibly lucky for him. That's not even 1 in a 1000 shot. It's really 1 in a million.

Not for Mathew Quigley, 300 ft, at 20 years old with a scope I could hit a dime. This sounds like he didn't know how to shoot. The Secret Service should have never let him get that close.

Nothing found on social media yet. What is the term for the typical mass shooter's statement they usually leave behind? This of course was mainly just aimed at Trump.

Maybe we should be asking which high ranking member of the GOP gave the order for a fellow republican to take out Trump?

More likely a Conspiracy theorist nut job republican who thinks Trump should have pardoned the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers for January 6th.

It would be if that is what the shooter was aiming to do.

With an AR at the range of the shooting the accuracy of an average AR is an area bigger than an ear.

An with a match barrel scope, and good trigger job could easily make that shot repeatedly, but this is probably an off the rack gun store gun.

It might not even be a standard caliber AR, but a 9mm variant.

100 yards, decent scope, AR-15? Those shots very possible and doable. If kid had any experience shooting while laying down.

This is literally the Texas Sharpshooter fallacy. He was aiming for the head but missed although only just barely. He grazed the ear.

Like every hand in poker is equally highly unlikely if you select 5 random cards from a 52-card deck. But you will get something for sure.

There are some seriously educated people on this forum, I won't try to name them as they are way above my pay grade, but clearly there are odds in play from 130 yards that Donald has his ear pierced.
This may be the most extraordinary event inhuman history.
I am incredibly pleased he survived for the sake of the world. But this is a statistically impossible happening?
Is it like the precise measure of the cosmological constant?
Who will ever know.

Sharpshooter's fallacy. If someone shot at a chess board with a rifle from 130 yards away, aiming at the center, it wouldn't be "the most extraordinary event in human history" or "a statistically impossible happening" if the bullet hit square A5.

I'm betting the SS already knew that the shooter had been neutralized (he was killed within seconds) and had informed Trump of that. Yes, I don't think he was risking anything by raising his fist.

To be fair, in the commotion no one could have known with certainty that there was not a second shooter, or a more organized attack still pending.

Well of course to hit person even in the head is nothing hard from this distance.
I mean hitting his ear, right in the moment when the turns his head, and leave him otherwise unharmed .. that's insane luck.

I’ve never heard of a “political betting market.” What previous predictions has this market previously called?

You understand that people bet on the outcome of elections worldwide, right? They do this with bookmakers, betting exchanges and prediction markets. There is a whole industry of people who do this very seriously and put in massive amounts of time and effort in order to profit from it. I dabble in it myself having lost about $4200 in the 2016 election but making well over $24k in the 2020 election (thank you mail in ballots).

The point of the price I gave isn't to call anything. Its a snapshot in time of where public sentiment stands and can be a leading indicator before proper polls are conducted. In this case, it clearly shows sentiment moving towards Trump after the shooting which is very common after an act of political violence. As of this morning its moved slightly more toward Trump, implying around a 74% probability of him winning. Polls in the coming days will also likely show the same shift.

Of course the market gets more efficient the closer we come to election day but even this far out there is a significant amount of money in it, making it a good early indicator.

What if there was another back-up shooter?

Allowing him to make these open public physical statements put him at risk of being shot again, SS should not have allowed any of this.

They should have had him on the floor, then if possible rush his ass to the car, thats it. No other options.
