It is one of those things that is probably unimportant in and of itself but very important in what it shows about the individual involved.
I think we all have had experiences where a little thing told us tons about what a individual is like....

My brother got busted for this:
a debt of more than $50 million that Trump claims he owes to one of his own companies.

My brother was paying rent as a business expense for a house his business owned, but not reporting the rental income.

The rent was a legit business expense because they used the house in running the business from out of state. But not claiming the rental income, I don't know how he made that mistake but I believe it was a mistake.

Trump's details are a bit different but amount to something similar, asserting you owe money to a business while the business is not reporting that money.

The mistake was that he did it for a relatively small amount of money. If he had done it for 50 million dollars he could have been president by now.

According to a letter the panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport — the closest airport to Trump Turnberry — since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a U.S. military base. The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

I can't believe that SharpieGate is still going on! Truth to tell, I rather like it as a break from all the actual horrible stuff that is happening with Hurricane Dorian. I'm not sure what the difference or relationship NOAA (who just backed up the President) has with NWS (who called him out on it immediately).

It could have been just a blip in the news cycle, the The PDJT keeps escalating it to the exclusion of things he should be focusing on. Now I think this is going to come up as a major point in election talk.

Yeah he's been hung up on it all week, it would be hilarious if we weren't talking about the president of the United States.

The NWS is a sub-agency within the NOAA. Typically, the NOAA doesn't comment on weather forecasts because the larger agency isn't a weather forecasting office.

It's rather like a toddler screaming " but didn't do it this time". That internal rage of this time they actually haven't actually done the naughty thing they keep doing but are being punished because no one believes them. I think it is highly likely at some briefing or other Trump heard the name Alabama, of course he wouldn't have been listening to nor capable of understanding the details (probably something like 'potentially could track into the USA as far as Alabama' ) but he knows he heard Alabama and hurricane.

In this case fixation on defending at all costs a trivially minor slip - mentioning Alabama as at risk - and canceling a trip to Poland due to the emergency and then playing golf. Gives me images of Nero and a fiddle, but supporters will simply say, “But what about _______” and go on their merry way.

I don't know ... maybe some Trump supporters don't consume any media that points out his gaffes, but I think some do. The amount of time and mental energy he's put in to trying to justify himself might give a few of them pause. Like, this guy really has nothing better to do? Nothing more worthy to spend his attention on? I think the more of this stuff the better, to a point. I don't want too much serious news reporting devoted to it, but hammering him on social media is a different story. Is this the kind of pettiness 40 percent want in "the leader of the free world?" It's bound to be a concern to a few independents etc. who are on the bubble. Lighthearted mockery may be exactly the right tone to strike - it's not mean, and it's pretty damn funny. Humor could make a difference. Probably more effectively than Trump's tactic of whining and calling people stupid nicknames.

Anyone think he'll be using his "Pocahontas" play anytime soon? I'd love to see it. That's his idea of humor and he can never see it when the jokes don't land. That could hurt him IMO.
 
I've moved a lot of posts to AAH for being off topic, a discussion about the USA health care system is not on topic here nor is a discussion about a Democrat healthcare campaigning policy. Also some silly personal bickering has been removed. Please note it was quite clear that many of the members engaged in the off topic posts knew they were off topic for this thread, which means you knew your posts could end up in AAH. If it happens again further moderation action will happen which may include more moves to AHH, suspensions and bannngs.
