Seeing reactions from Trump supporters elsewhere, the fallback position seems to be: “A deadly hurricane is in progress, and all the left can think about is attacking and degrading our President over a stupid chart!”

I hold that even - or maybe especially - during an emergency that a leader’s reactions, actions and priorities should be open to analysis and criticism. In this case fixation on defending at all costs a trivially minor slip - mentioning Alabama as at risk - and canceling a trip to Poland due to the emergency and then playing golf. Gives me images of Nero and a fiddle, but supporters will simply say, “But what about _______” and go on their merry way.

Trump is basically admitting that he wasn't paying any attention to his "hourly" briefings for several days, but that's apparently okay with trumpers. Can we really get by another 16 months without a serious crisis that requires a rational response from this willfully ignorant, self-obsessed buffoon?

DACA will be going before the Supreme Court. It is a document that even President Obama didn’t feel he had the legal right to sign - he signed it anyway! Rest assured that if the SC does what all say it must, based on the law, a bipartisan deal will be made to the benefit of all!

I agree with @jimcramer, the Fed should lower rates. They were WAY too early to raise, and Way too late to cut - and big dose quantitative tightening didn’t exactly help either. Where did I find this guy Jerome? Oh well, you can’t win them all!

Powell was confirmed by the senate by an 84-13 vote, so he got plenty of support from both parties.

I wonder what would have happened had Trump nominated someone who was more of a lackey. I assume the democrats would have objected, but would any of the republicans recognize the danger of closer control of the Fed by Trump or would they have pulled a Kavanaugh and lined up behind Trump's selection, regardless of the dangers.

Of those who voted against him for the position, how many of them did it on the basis of, "I don't like this guy. He's not going to do enough of what the President wants him to do."?

I would have loved to hear the argument of opposition that he was too independent.

Funny how his story changes. What he doing is trying to make the Fed make the US economy seem superficially better when he’s in charge and worse when Democrats are in charge. Using monetary policy for political means like this is quite literally how countries end up like Venezuela.

I'm sure someone has written an app that takes any writing in as input and converts it to sound like Trump tweets. Change every third adjective to "biggest", randomly capitalize nouns, replace punctuation with screamers, and insert an insult to a celebrity from a list of his enemies.

Hence: "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." becomes "The LOSER fox jumped the biggest over Lying Dog Obama!!!"

Yet he's scarfing the budget intended for military projects to fund his Wall.

The latest dollar amount I read him state was $600 billion, in regards to... something. I'm sure that's been inflated by $100 billion every time he talks about it.

He's inflating the China trade deficit by about $150 billion, and he calls the deficit a "rip off" because he doesn't quite understand what a trade deficit means.
