Will tariffs make America great?

So its been fun seeing the pretzel twists Trump supporters are making to try and claim this as a win. Many are just cut and pasting stuff they generate in ChatGPT, and it shows. Others suddenly are experts on tariff rates and reference articles about China tariffs on US goods....from 30 years ago. Others are trying to claim that China's increase in exports was proof they were in trouble (!). Its beyond twisted. I have to wonder if any Independent voters will be taken in by this nonsense or if they are just doing it to convince themselves.

I believe we're in "earnings season" right now, so news about last period's earnings are the flavor of the hour when it comes to investor mood. Give it another quarter or two.

they’re taking it as a big “whew it’s finally over” which it’s anything but

investors will blow up the market to make a quick buck if you let them.

And China will sell the USA their best, most modern machines? Thereby undercutting their own industries?

Thing is, as usual the Magats have it backwards manufacturing in China isn't cheaper because they have the machines, they have the machines because it's cheaper to manufacture in China.

It may be both, but either way the manufacturing jobs aren't coming back to the US. If more manufacturing is done in the US it's because it requires little or no labour. The days of thousands of people working in a plant in developed economies making widgets are long gone.
