If we went through all this for nothing???what does it matter?

Deficit is just a number. Are there any practical results you expect out of this?If we went through all this for nothing???
Just wait until all of Trump's ruinous policies have failed and we get back to Biden's economy!Dow +1,160 at closing.
Dow +1,160 at closing.
We could have spent all this time and effort doing something more useful, like unicorn-proofing our houses, or setting Leprechaun traps. If we went through all this for nothing???
I believe we're in "earnings season" right now, so news about last period's earnings are the flavor of the hour when it comes to investor mood. Give it another quarter or two.
...from China?Trade Deficit won't change much.
In fact, if the US is serious about onshoring, it will have to spend hundreds of billions buying machines
And China will sell the USA their best, most modern machines? Thereby undercutting their own industries?Of course

Given Trump, the machines will be Saudi leftovers, from the 1950's.Still cheaper than German machines.
And China will give them their current generation and use the money to upgrade theirs.
Just like the US did with UK/France/Germany after WW2

It may be both, but either way the manufacturing jobs aren't coming back to the US. If more manufacturing is done in the US it's because it requires little or no labour. The days of thousands of people working in a plant in developed economies making widgets are long gone.Thing is, as usual the Magats have it backwards manufacturing in China isn't cheaper because they have the machines, they have the machines because it's cheaper to manufacture in China.
