Merged Two Mosques to be built near Ground Zero

this opposition in many ways was manufactured, fueled, pumped, primed, and nursed by a very select few bigots...who truly hate Muslims.

There are always people who spout hate, but you don't help it when you label
criticism as hate.

Trust me, as an lifelong atheist I have plenty of criticisms regarding Islam (and others) but I don't hate Muslims.

Where would that lead? Catholics next and who knows where it would end?:covereyes

Pam Geller. Nuff' said.

She is a major part of the driving force behind all of this.

Her hatred of Muslims and Islam is irrefutable.

I think that is giving credit, if one can call it that, where it is not due. You might as well blame Rush Limbaugh and his radio clones.

I giver Geller credit for starting the noise about the Islamic Center. The rest of the right wing echo chamber then picked it up to play the fear and hate cards.

Rush has been doing his part. As of Thursday, he was still talking about the mosque "at ground zero" and mixing it up with hints that Obama is really a Muslim.

So why then, don't you seem to recognize the underlying reason for opposing this Muslim community center that was planned to counter the terrorists, is a misguided but clearly existing, prejudice against Muslims?

What percentage of people do you think actually read her? A lot more listen to people like Rush, or scramble their brains with Beck.

Anyway, goodnight for now.
People don't have to read Atlas Shrugs. The woman incited the mob. The mob is now reacting without reason.

Now some construction workers state they would refuse to build the mosque/center/happy place.

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.
...
"Thousands of people are signing up from all over the country," said creator Andy Sullivan, a construction worker from Brooklyn. "People who sell glass, steel, lumber, insurance. They are all refusing to do work if they build there."
So what should happen to the people who refuse to work based on the religion of their intended customers?

Apparently, it only took one from the New York Post to read her in order to propogate this nonsense story to millions.

In the United States, the Constitution trumps public opinion. Case law clearly and repeatedly states that the First Amendment means that the government cannot treat various religions differently. So, unless the U.S. passes a new constitutional amendment repealing part of the First Amendment, there really is nothing to debate. The government, and by extension President Obama, is forbidden to interfere in the matter.

If that is so and I don't dispute it, then Obama should not have given his opinion that it should go ahead. This has split the Democrats.

Let me get this straight. What is implied here is that more than 60% of Americans are bigots?
