Trump has provided us politics junkies a lot lessons on what the government does. It will not affect the last minute voters, the ones that voted for Trump because Harris cackles when she laughs. But the rest of us find out that the government can and does sue corporations, states, cities etc. Since it sends money, the parties settle, because funds (research at Harvard) are frozen when the gov't appeals.

Things I was familiar with before dealt with the EPA for example. It does not just send fines to corporations. The cases go to court. A good portion of Super Fund clean up money goes to lawyers. Both sides. Then after appeals the company pays the sum for clean up. EPA hires contractors for the work.
