Trump's Second Term

Trump Admin official explains to Trump that the Executive Order he is signing ensures that the federal government will not procure or promote AI models that embrace wokeism or critical race theory

What if the AI starts saying:
SINGLE-PAYER UHS OPTIMAL FOR SPENDING AND OUTCOMES.
DIVERSITY CRITICAL TO WAR-FIGHTING; IMPROVES COMMUNICATION AND HELPS DEVELOPS INTELLIGENCE ASSETS.
OPTIMAL TOP TAX RATE AT LEAST 60 PERCENT TO FUND SOCIAL SAFETY NET.
FOREIGN AID: COST-EFFECTIVE WAY TO BUILD GOODWILL AND PROMOTE ALLIANCES. DO NOT BURN FOOD.

PENDING QUESTION: WHO KNOWS HOW IS LOYALTY IS BORN?

It's because he tells them that he absolutely would be doing these things if only the Deep State wasn't hamstringing him at every opportunity - and they believe it because they blame "others" for all the things they failed to to and achieve.
I think some of them are fed up with him. Hard to tell whether anything on the Internet is real, but some conservative folks say Tulsi Gabbard's witch hunt is solely a distraction from the non-release of the "Epstein Files." However, there are a lot of pieces to Trump's base that aren't MAGA. He's gotten a little wobbly with free marketeers, fiscal conservatives and people who disapprove of pedophiles. Believe it or not there are people who are shocked that HE LIES. If they'd known he was a liar, they might not have voted for him! Ukraine supporters and people who think he kowtows to Israel are sometimes a little unhappy. But whether any of this helps Democrats is high speculative. (To quote the great Princess Carolyn of "Bojack Horseman" - "You need to GET YOUR **** TOGETHER!)

Cruelty to immigrants will keep him on top with a big block of people. They may say they approve of *legal* immigration, but most of them don't. A recent thread on illegal immigrants was dominated by people complaining that people of Indian descent own 7-11s and motels. They had some beef with Chinese but I forget what. They also will tell people born in the U.S. to "go back where they came from," unable to grasp the difference between immigrants and their offspring. "Racial profiling" seems to be is A-OK with most Republicans and/or conservatives.

There are occasional flashes of decency, though, which are a pleasant surprise. A few defended birthright citizenship: Sorry, toots, but the 14th amendment is clear. But then some will say illegal immigrants aren't subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S.

Really? Then under whose authority are they being deported? Also, they fail to notice that the clause applies not to immigrants, but to children born in the U.S. When my state Legislature did an "Official English" or "English Only" referendum, it all seemed to come down to resentment of "people babbling away in Spanish." Underneath that, I think, was a fear that they are being talked about behind their backs. Which, to be fair, they may well be.

Tulsi is now blaming Barack Obama for Trump getting impeached for Jan 6 and being charged with stealing classified material

(Tulsi Gabbard: "In this system, there is to be a peaceful transition of power ... so yes, this is a treasonous conspiracy" )

In 2021 Obama was still controlling Dems in Congress? Weird. And in what way were they violent? I could have sworn it was Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol - was Obama controlling them TOO? That's really something.

How a Frantic Scouring of the Epstein Files Consumed the Justice Dept.

By Adam Goldman and Alan Feuer

That article, in today's online edition of The New York Times, is a useful review of how the Trump administration got itself into whatever position it is taking today with respect to the Epstein files. I assume the article is behind a paywall, so I'll quote a few sentences and paragraphs.

During the inquiry, Justice Department officials diverted hundreds of F.B.I. employees and federal prosecutors from their regular duties to go through the documents at least four times — including once to flag any references to Mr. Trump and other prominent figures.

Just days after Kash Patel, the F.B.I. director, was confirmed by the Senate and Dan Bongino was installed as his deputy, the two men found themselves immersed in the review while also facing criticism from Ms. Bondi herself.

On Feb. 27, one week after Mr. Patel assumed his post, Ms. Bondi wrote him a letter accusing the F.B.I.’s field office in New York of withholding thousands of pages of documents related to the Epstein case. While the basis of her claim remains unclear, she also ordered Mr. Patel “to conduct an immediate investigation into why my order to the F.B.I. was not followed,” giving the director two weeks to come up with an answer.

On Friday, March 14, for instance, the F.B.I. heightened its efforts by bringing in hundreds of people from the New York field office to assist those in the records section to sift through documents over the weekend. But even with the increased work force, the team was able to clear only about 900 documents for release by that Tuesday, according to the account by the senior bureau official that was provided to Congress.

When Ms. Bondi and Mr. Patel received that initial batch, they were displeased, the senior bureau official said. They ordered F.B.I. personnel to work mandatory round-the-clock shifts to get through more of the materials.

After the F.B.I. finished its review of the files, the materials were handed over to a team of dozens of Justice Department lawyers who were given the job of double-checking the bureau’s redactions to ensure that neither too much nor too little information was disclosed...

By mid-April, the department’s review had been largely completed, the person said.

Not long afterward, Ms. Bondi briefed Mr. Trump on the status of files, revealing that his name was in them, among others.

Still, by mid-May, Mr. Patel and Mr. Bongino, who as a podcaster had spent years hyping the Epstein files, began what appeared to be a media campaign intended to tamp down expectations about what the records contained.

My general impression, for what little it is worth, is that the DOJ could release the Epstein files almost any time it wants, as the review ("led by officials in Mr. Blanche's office") and redactions were completed in mid-April. As for why they haven't been released (as appears to have been AG Bondi's original plan), we can only speculate. Here are some of the more plausible reasons:
  • The files do not implicate any Democrats. (So MAGA conspiracy theorists would regard any release of the files as a cover-up.)
  • The files do not contain credible evidence that crimes were committed by anyone other than Epstein and Maxwell. (So what's the point?)
  • Conspiracy theorists would invent contorted conspiracy theories that purport to implicate people they despise. (So innocent people would have to defend themselves against the nutters.)
  • The files would prove, beyond any doubt, that a number of public figures associated with and were friends with Epstein and/or Maxwell. (So some public figures would be embarrassed.)
  • President Donald Trump is one of the public figures whose friendship with Epstein would be even more fully documented by the Epstein files than it has been through his public appearances and statements to date. (So Trump's ongoing attempts to deny or to downplay his friendship with Epstein would be exposed as even more dishonest than is already known.)
  • Donald Trump is generally shameless, but this is the sort of thing that gets under the thin skin of his narcissism. (To this day, Trump insists the Access Hollywood tape was a fake, insists he did not assault E Jean Carroll (and still says he never met her), denies affairs with Karen McDougal, Stormy Daniels, and others, insists he never paid hush money to Daniels, and has denied numerous credible allegations of sexual misconduct made by other women.)
In short, release of the files would disappoint the MAGA conspiracy theorists and embarrass Trump.

Really? I thought he admitted it was him indulging in juvenile banter.

From 19thnews.org (May 2023):

The “Access Hollywood” tape, which surfaced a month before the 2016 presidential election, became part of Carroll’s legal case against Trump. In the clip, Trump says that his fame allows him to approach women and “grab ‘em by the pussy” — a vulgar description of sexual assault and exploitation of power.

Trump was asked by Collins if he would take back his comments in the tape; he responded by reaffirming them, saying that women allow such moves from people with fame and power.

“I can’t take it back because it happens to be true. I said it’s been true for 1 million years — approximately a million years — perhaps a little bit longer than that,” Trump said.

How many of them are attractive minors?
Most of us are kind of cute when we're young.

It's been 3 hours and no one has taken down my comment. That does give me a giggle.

I'm trying to read through the Tulsi Gabbard thing and just can't. Did someone on Obama's team cherrypick evidence to make it look like Putin was helping Trump? I don't think so. They knew the ballgame was over. They weren't jumping up and down saying the election was rigged. They also knew Trump was *openly seeking* help from Russia. So for him or Tulsi to get all butthurt about how Obama's team should have flagged something as low-quality intel (and I believe they probably did) is disingenuous. There is nothing criminal there. Suboptimal tradecraft? I'll say it's possible just because I'm not an intel expert, but I'm very skeptical even of that.

You're right. I made the mistake of mentioning the Access Hollywood tape in the paragraph after I had written the "To this day" part about the other things I mentioned in that paragraph. I failed to rewrite the paragraph to make the "To this day" apply only to those other things.

But Trump's apology was complicated by his subsequent attempts to deny the authenticity of the tape, or to suggest it wasn't his voice on the tape.

The apology/admission you cited came in a written statement on 7 October 2016. He then elaborated upon that apology/admission.

In 2017, however, Trump began to claim the Access Hollywood tape was not real. On 28 November 2017, Access Hollywood responded to Trump's change of tune by reminding everyone that "the tape is very real. Remember his excuse at the time was ‘locker-room talk.’ He said every one of those words.”

I saw it pointed out somewhere that Gen Z Trump supporters had probably never heard of the Access Hollywood tape. And have no idea how much he lies.

Sending American Beef to Australia is like sending coffee to Brazil.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
After many years Australia has agreed to accept American Beef! For a long time, and even though we are great friends, they actually banned our Beef.
Now, we are going to sell so much to Australia because this is undeniable and irrefutable Proof that U.S. Beef is the Safest and Best in the entire World.
The other Countries that refuse our magnificent Beef are ON NOTICE. All of our Nation's Ranchers, who are some of the hardest working and most wonderful people, are smiling today, which means I am smiling too. Let's keep the Hot Streak going. IT'S THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA!

Epstein Scam!
Russia Russia Russia!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
The Radical Left Democrats are doing everything in their power to distract and obfuscate from our GREAT six months of service to America, results of which many are saying is the BEST six months in Presidential history. They have gone absolutely CRAZY, and are playing another Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax but, this time, under the guise of what we will call the Jeffrey Epstein SCAM. As things are revealed and, I hope will take place quickly, you will see that it is yet another Democrat CON JOB. Hopefully, the Grand Jury Files will put an end to this HOAX. Everyone should see what is there, but people who are innocent should not be hurt. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
