Trump's Second Term

An interesting question is...What would the NATO do if Trump started lobbing missiles at Canada to help him live out his annexation fantasies? Would the EU launch a massive salvation armada? Doubtful because if you read the text to Article 5 then they could get away with popping a few slingshots and a flashlight in the mail and calling it a job done.

If the EU was really concerned about Ukraine, they's dump all this talk about admitting Ukraine to NATO and fast track Ukranian EU membership because article 42(7) has way more teeth and the forces of the EU should be able to drive the ill equipped, undermanned Russians back to the border in a weekend.
Idiots like you are going to get a right land when they see an EU woken up to its true power. And it'll be alk Trampy's fault.

Apparently Ontario is imposing a 25% tax on energy sold to the U.S. starting Monday. It’s already stopped selling U.S. liquor.

And now British Columbia is going to impose fees on truck traffic traversing its territory on the way to Alaska.

Bravo! My only concern is that Trump could see these as acts of war and use that as a pretense for military action against Canada.
Trampy is so far gone, a Canadian sneezing within a country mioe of him could be construed as an act of war.

So far, the resistance has been futile.

They could try sitting in their cars and bawling their eyes out making TikToks, that's kind of popular.

Too bad the USA doesn't have its own version of the Haka.

That is just about the most awesome parliamentary action I have ever seen. Up there with Aussie PM Julia Gillard’s misogyny speech.

Or immediately said. As with my previous post about his claim that Honda is building a new plant in the US (which they've said is not so), anything that gets into his head that seems at the moment like a good thing to say, he just blurts out, without any consideration of whether it's a good idea or even true. I think Trump's basic characteristic is not just that he doesn't care about the difference between the truth and a lie, it's that he lacks the concept of the difference.
He also works as a LINO “Last IN Next Out”.

The constant overreach and reversals ARE the strategy - it's what the only way to find out what will and will not trigger a backlash, and it's what Trump has done all his life. It's not vacillating, it's making other people do the work to figure out what and what not is worth fighting for.

The only reason why this works is because, no matter the outcome, Trump will be fine and never face any consequences for running other people's lives.

There is a deeper lesson here, and it is that law enforcement and prosecutors need to focus first and foremost on the harm done by the most powerful, not those with the least amount of power.
They may also be part of a strategy to cripple the US economy. Businesses find it hard to plan when they don't know what the government is going to do next. Look at post-Brexit UK with business confidence crumbling as tariffs were coming/ oops no maybe later, inspections at ports must be done, well maybe not now, maybe later etc.

Trump signed an Executive Order holding those who challenge administration policies in court financially liable if they lose the case.

Since all the tech bros, bankers, speculators (and Trump) don't actually create any wealth, just move software and numbers around, volatility is a great opportunity to cash in.
It only hurts those who actually build anything.
Not so easy, even with inside information. Current volatility is not deep enough to be worth the risk. Getting 5% maybe ? That's rookie numbers.
You can get more by simply promoting company, or by pushing policy which would benefit some parts of the market.
And Trump probably made much more with his crypto scam.
Trump's problem is not that he's manipulating stock market. The problem is he doesn't care about stock market.

What a ◊◊◊◊.

I can see a business opportunity here though. Set up an agency to recruit bright, sprightly 90-year olds who are (in reuturn for having their rent, utilities and groceries paid in perpetuity) willing to listen to a presentation on what's wrong with some administration policy and then if they're conviced, to personally take on a court case challenging that policy, maybe with some pro-bono legal support.

If they lose, they're liable for $100 billion dollars they will never have. <shrug>
