Merged Trump shot in PA??

Well .. USA has really broad definition free speech. You can say almost anything.
But that's not the case in most countries in the world, even democratic ones. Endorsing violent crime is usually not protected, it's usually a felony. It's the same in Australia.
Saying "next time don't miss" might be bad manners in USA, in Australia it can get you jailed. Same where I live. Especially if you are a public figure with large reach.
Btw. it was not Jack Black himself who said it AFAIK, it was the other guy. Except nobody remembers his name.

No, Jack Black has distanced himself from his "friend".

He should grow a pair and say it was a joke and that of course they aren't endorsing assassination, etc...

It may be bad taste, but in the UK, comedians sometimes make those kinds of jokes. I would assume Australia allows it too.

Norman Tebbit has called on Frankie Boyle to be banned from the BBC for joking that he wished the IRA would murder leading Tories.

The comic was speaking about Theresa May meeting Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Michael Gove and Iain Duncan Smith and Chequers to thrash our a Brexit deal when he said: ‘All in one place. Where the **** are the IRA when you need them? All these groups that keep getting back together. What about the guys that would really help us?’

In the US if you say you want to kill the President you can be arrested. At the very least you will get a visit from the Secret Service or FBI, depending on the context.

This is a classic incident from 1974:

https://www.nytimes.com/1972/05/22/archives/oregon-man-80-is-held-in-threat-to-nixons-life.html

The old man was running his mouth and was overheard by Secret Service agents. He did time.

This is from 1998:

How To Make The Secret Service's "Unwanted" List
It's not hard to get the attention of the Secret Service. Write threatening letters to the White House. Or do as Russell Weston did--keep telling people you want to harm the President until someone calls the police. If all goes by the book, the Service is alerted, agents are dispatched, and the maker of the threats is interrogated and evaluated.

But the Service can do only so much. Unless someone is deemed a serious and immediate danger, he or she isn't placed under surveillance. Instead the agency compiles a file on the individual, entering the name into a computer. And unless more threats are made--or the person shows up for a White House tour--no more action is taken. The vast majority of the Russell Westons who come across the Secret Service radar screen every year--and there are dozens--are never more than names in a database reserved mostly for cranks and crazies.

Weston is not the first person involved in a murderous incident who had earlier found his way into the Service's files. Samuel Byck first caught agents' attention after making a threat against President Nixon's life in 1972. In 1974 Byck killed a policeman, an airline pilot, then himself in a failed effort to hijack a DC-9 that he planned to crash into the White House. In 1975 agents evaluated Sarah Jane Moore and decided she was not dangerous. Then she fired a gun at President Ford. "Washington is kind of a mecca for nuts," says a federal law-enforcement officer. "Disturbed people go there because they think that's where their problems are emanating from."

Weston fits another profile the Secret Service is used to encountering. Potential assassins, especially delusional ones, often change targets, making it difficult to predict who is in danger. Only after Arthur Bremmer shot and seriously wounded presidential candidate George Wallace in 1972 did the Service learn--from Bremmer's diary--that the would-be assassin had stalked Nixon before turning to the less protected Wallace. So it was with Weston. He made threats against a President, but he took his gun to Capitol Hill.

Americans don't know they have to be careful about what they say about the POTUS. Social Media will report threatening posts automatically, and often friends of the poster will alert local law enforcement.

This quote is from the widow of Corey Comperatore, the volunteer firefighter killed at the trump rally. It shows you the mindset of the magamutts and it is terrible. The family wouldn't accept a call from the President of the United States?

Whether she's a Republican or a Democrat, Biden is HER president. He's the president of all of us. The maga crew have no real loyalty to anyone but themselves. They have no loyalty to or support for the President of the United States if he is a Democrat. They have no real loyalty to or support for the United States. It all 'depends.'

That's no good. :(

It's not the not wanting to talk, necessarily (that's the way some people deal with grief), but the stated reasons. Her husband was just murdered by a fellow trumpista and she doesn't want to talk to Biden because of politics. T****y's too self centred, callous and uncaring to contact her and he's still her idol.

Every single U.S. president who has ever served in office has been [check notes] a flawed human being, like the rest of us. Politicians especially have to make sausage, which isn't a pretty process. Furthermore, a significant portion of people who enter a profession in which power is exercised are people who like to exercise power (go figure). And power corrupts.

But that doesn't mean that all politicians are equally flawed as people or as politicians. I can grant you support of Trump for the policies you believe in, but at some point the list of a politician's flaws overrides the policy congruence. And Trump's list is pretty spectacular.

Not T****y, he's perfect in his lack of good points.

I guess not: "The action of clasping someone's penis with both hands and twisting the skin in opposite directions." (UrbanDictionary: Making Sausage)
It must be an American custom. I haven't heard about politicians around here having to do that.

IMO, it has nothing to do with "growing a pair."

Can you imagine the rest of their U.S. tour dates? I'd say every one would potentially be a hotspot for violence. Continuing the tour now would be reckless at best.

I think they're in Australia now.

Pretty sure it would have all blown over by the time they got back to America.

**** your feelings, we hate virtue signaling, cancel culture is bad, comedians can't make jokes anymore, etc, etc, etc

Remember that "real men wear diapers" bit, where people were publicly wearing diapers in emulation of their God-Emperor?

That kid, dressed that way and carrying that rifle? Weird.

There was a photo published up thread of cops surrounding the now deceased shooter in their military fetish gear and the colours of their clothes weren't much different from those he was wearing. From a distance it would be hard enough to distinguish.

is that real?

If I was Trump, I would be sooooo pissed about that.

Not just crazy - a crazy republican.

Jared Lee LoughnerLoughner's high-school friend says he wasn't on the left of the right, but an opinion that women shouldn't hold positions of power, a distrust of government, and a belief that fiat currency is worthless are popular conservative views.

You dismiss his belief that the government was using language and grammar to brainwash people as being 'insane', yet that is what many conservatives are saying is happening. If that is insane, then so are many republicans.

An Ideological Asymmetry in Conspiratorial Thinking

When I heard that someone had shot Trump I immediately thought "I bet the shooter was a conservative" - because they usually are. This is just the kind of thing that a radical conservative might think was a good idea. Recently on Infowars Alex Jones said "kill him that's best case scenario... oh please kill him... it's so good after that" because it would legitimize taking out the people on their own hitlist, including Biden.

When somebody is described as being "neither right nor left", you can be almost guarantted that their views will turn out to be far right.

Here's the article the picture came from.

Some delegates attending this week’s Republican National Convention have started up a new fashion trend: an ear bandage, mimicking the one former President Trump is wearing after he was hit by a bullet over the weekend.

Joe Neglia, a delegate from Arizona, told CBS News it represented “the newest fashion trend.”
“Everybody in the world is going to be wearing these pretty soon,” he said, explaining that he’d folded up a piece of paper on the bus ride over to the arena.

I particularly like this one.

Stacey Goodman, another Arizona delegate who was wearing a piece of paper over her ear, said the accessory was “done in solidarity with my president, Trump, not the current thing that’s in the administration.”

"The current thing that's in the administration". What was someone in these threads just saying about the use of dehumanizing language?
