Merged Trump shot in PA??

It would've been a lot easier to type "Republicans bad, Democrats good."

Well, given that the GOP currently is fully endorsing a man who is a pathological liar, a racist, a serial sex offender, a malignant narcissist, a xenophobe, a misogynist, a traitor, a wannabe dictator, someone whose sole concern is for his own frail ego--and these titles are fully supported by mountains of evidence, if the shoe fits...

Please point out anything that I have said that was inaccurate.
"And their current fuhrer, Stubby McBonespurs"

Nothing you say can be taken seriously.
So in other words, the general content of my posting was completely accurate, but you just had your little feeling hurt because I tended to use some negative nick names for Trump.

So, does the same attitude apply when Trump uses childish nick names to refer to his opponents (like "crooked hillary")? Or is it just those who aren't MAGAchud who need to refrain from using nicknames?

The finger-pointing has started between the Secret Service and the local police, mostly with the Secret Service saying the police didn't do their job securing the area outside the perimeter, while the local police say the management of the area is ultimately the responsibility of the Service.

I guess I always assumed that the Secret Service would claim total oversight of security, and verify to their own satisfaction that local agencies were doing their part.

As I understand it, the local cop who was supposed to be on that roof backed down when he saw there was a guy with a gun already there, and never called it in. Everyone else saw someone on the roof where someone was supposed to be.
If true, it will be interesting to see if the cops "stand behind" one of their own. Or does that only happen when they are abusing minorities?
That's wonderful!

By the way, one thing about that article stood out:

Trump, meanwhile, authorized a GoFundMe campaign for the victims of the shooting

Why exactly does Trump have to "authorize" it? And why bother with a GoFundMe page if Trump is a (supposed) billionaire? Can't he just give the victims money from his own pocket?

Also, in the first polls since the shooting, Biden climbed by an ear.

That kid, dressed that way and carrying that rifle? Weird.

Given that an average, well-trained sniper can make a kill shot on a live target out to 800 yards, that's a huge number of people needing to be put through your metal detector to be sure of 99% protection for the target. A really top sniper, such as Cpl Craig Harrison of the British Army, has made kill shots out to over 2200 yards.

And since we can't ensure safety from 800 yards out, let's not ensure safety from 150 yards out (the distance Crooks was shooting from)? The roof he was on was an obvious spot for a sniper.

My understanding was that the cop accessed the roof because someone called it in. He doesn't seem to have been assigned to be stationed on the roof, at least not that I have seen.

....Butler Township officers received calls about a suspicious person outside the perimeter of the rally and went looking to find that person. The initial calls did not indicate the suspicious person had a gun, he said.

During the search for the suspicious person, officers with township police discovered that the gunman was on the roof, and one local officer hoisted another to get up to the ledge. The shooter turned around, saw the officer peering over and pointed his gun at him. The officer let go of the ledge to “take cover” and save his own life. The gunman then started firing from the rooftop. Trump, who says he was shot in the ear, was rushed offstage with blood on his face.

From that it sounds as if the cop who saw the gunman didn't know that the guy had a gun until right then. And that cop does not seem to have been on a ladder, he seems to have needed both hands to hold himself up. And within moments of seeing that cop, the would-be assassin started firing.

That's the most bonkers part of this to me. It's such an obvious place for a gunman, how do you not put somebody up there if you are providing security? It's a pretty good vantage point for observation, why not put an agent up there just to watch the crowd?

Problem of too many law enforcement agencies: I'm sure they thought that he Was a cop of some sort or another

There a phrase that escapes me right now, where an emergency happens but people are slow to really be the first to admit it. Like a fire starts in a building, the alarm goes off, and people are slow to move to the exits even as it becomes apparent that this is a real, clearly dangerous fire.

I wonder if a bit of that happened with law enforcement on this. I assume that was some predetermined thing that LE could do to trigger the Secret Service to cover and evacuate Trump. But they were too slow to do that, maybe out of fear of being wrong.

Would you want to be the cop who triggered a full on Secret Service protective response, only to find out it was just some kid with a camera up there? So they stop to get just a bit more information. It was only two minutes from the first call in about a suspicious person to shots fired.

Doesn’t the SS use observation drones?

I can think of a reason why they might not want to. If there are drones overhead, it might be difficult to tell that a malicious drone is among them. By keeping the area overhead clear, they know that any drone in the area is a potential threat.

True.
What about one clearly marked drone? Then, should a second one show up, ….
