What disturbs me many people hear "Trump is a threat to democracy" as a clear call to violence. Yet, it seems to only be the Trump supporters who hear it that way.

Regular folks hear that and think that it is a call to vote, to organize and help campaign or get more voters registered, to donate, todo many things.

But not go straight to violence.

Whatever his other motives may have been, it looks to me as though this was suicide by Secret Service. Crooks had to have known that, once he started shooting, his life expectancy would be measured in seconds.

As to why Crooks decided to die shooting at a Republican instead of a Democrat, it might in part have been a matter of convenience and timing. Trump was holding an outdoor rally within driving distance. Biden was not.

It is possible, however, that Crooks had some fantasy in which he would escape alive. He is reported to have rigged an explosive device in his car, to be triggered by a device in his pocket. He knew he'd have to be alive to reach into his pocket. We might never learn whether he planned to use an explosion to cover his escape, or simply to go out with a bang.

The reason why there was no "legal" finding of rape is because New York has a specific legal definition involving penis penetration, and they could not determine whether Trump used that or his finger.

The judge has explained that in the common vernacular, sexual assault using fingers would be considered "rape" by the majority of non-scumbags.

This one seems to explain so much. The local SWAT team was supposed to have their own sniper team on the roof, but they stayed inside because of the heat (allegedly). An officer allegedly photographed the shooter and reported him as a suspicious individual - carrying an rifle case - and another officer attempted to confront him as he got onto the roof, but backed off when the shooter pointed his weapon. The Secret Service snipers saw the shooter but held fire as it was not clear if he wasn't a member of the local SWAT team finally getting into position.

All the pre-event meetings. All of the tactical meetings, All the planning by the Secret Service with local agencies. All of that work flushed down the toilet by the local SWAT team and local cops half-assing things. They have guns and radios. What the hell?
