Goodness, this thread seems to have died. I suppose that the topic did too, for the most part, but tell me: what happened this weekend? Any kneelers? Locking of arms? Or did it all just go away?

Of course, when you tell me what happened, do toe the line and discuss only the NFL and Trump's reaction to same. Don't go off on tangents about how high schools may have reacted. Let's be careful out there.

Seriously, was there any news this weekend? Booing? Or solidarity? I missed it on NPR and PBS.

I wonder if Trump's vehement comments contributed to Kaepernick not getting hired by the Titans when Mariota went down

I've removed this thread from moderated status...but please ensure your posts are on-topic, and going for the forum mirepoix, civil and address the argument and not attack the arguer.

Have the TV ratings for the last week been disclosed yet? I haven't seen anything about them.

Up for some games down for others, overall down about the same as 2015-16 was. Is it natural decline in rating that has been seen over the past ten years? A boycott? A week to week variance because of who is being televised? You really might be better off shaking a Magic 8-Ball for the answer to that one.

Problem is that the game this time last year was a Cowboys' game, which gets better ratings anyway. For instance, this week's Cowboys' game got a 22% increase in rating over last year's game in the time slot. Soooo, what part of the drop was because last year was the Cowboys and this year was not, what part of the drop was due to the fact that ratings have been dropping ~8% a year anyways, and what was due to the protests boycott? I doubt even a statistician would be willing to take that on.

It might be best to wait until the season is over and then assess how the ratings thing went. People seem to be chasing data points without letting the data have time to build and gain momentum.

Not at all. When antifa assaults someone for having the wrong views, that's not virtue signalling. They're putting their money where their mouth is. That's real action. I consider it evil action, but it's undoubtedly genuine.

Nice try, though.

And when the fascist fights back and stabs them for interrupting his harassment of some chick suddenly they become heroes and he becomes a monster.

From the end of August to the end of September, the favorable ratings for the NFL have dropped from 57 percent to 44 percent, and it has the highest unfavorable rating -- 40 percent -- of any big sport,

Thanks Trump.
If this is true it just proves that America is so racist it would rather stop watching something it likes than allow black men to peacefully protest their loss of civil rights.

Proves?

Lol

Fair enough.
I retract prove anf substitute "very strongly suggest."
I concede the possibility alien mind control rays could be affecting behavior, after all.

If you are right then they could probably bring ratings back then by waving the Confederate Flag, a symbol of fighting against the U.S. Flag to preserve the right to enslave others. Which somehow is acceptable to many on the right.

You think NFL fans are racist? People who watch a sport where about 75 - 80% of the players are black? People who proudly purchase and wear these same players' jerseys?

Is racism and pointing fingers all people here understand anymore? Can there ever be any other reason not to like something a black man does?

Oh, I hear Kaepernick will stop kneeling if a team will sign him.

Colin Kaepernick, the former 49ers quarterback who started the protest of kneeling during the national anthem before NFL games, told CBS he'll stand during the anthem if given a chance to play in the NFL again.

The former quarterback, who has not yet been signed this season, spoke to CBS sports off camera. CBS reporter Jason LaCanfora says Kaepernick is working out daily at a sports facility in New Jersey with the expectation or hope that a NFL team will sign him.
Assuming ABC News has the story straight I just have to laugh.

Yawn.
If you are willing to give up something you like as a result of black people protesting perceived Injustice, what is the word you would prefer?

Where is the disconnect between liking black people as long as they are doing something for you and know their place and racism?
