I'm already reeling from the number of black men and boys killed by black men and boy gang members. Be easy on me, but go ahead and give the number of black men and boys killed by "far/radical/alt right", and then compared to the black gangs. I'm sitting down so I'm prepared for the slaughter numbers. I'm afraid it's going to be very ugly.

I don't understand your comparison? The subject was who was responsible for more political violence. Political. Unless you are suggesting the Bloods and Crips are motivated by philosophies of governing, I don't see what you are driving at. Maybe we should also compare the legislative heart disease or malaria deaths, too? The responsibility of Father Time on mortality, assuming he has a candidate on the ballot as well?
 
I've always found it odd that mass shootings are only in the news when it applies to white people.
Bogative's posts show just how much worse the problem is. And how mass deaths in black neighborhoods are ignored by the mass media as not worth reporting on.

But I have no clue what would get the US to acknowledge it's gone overboard with it's gun culture and try to correct it.

You have to get past the "But I've done nothing wrong, why should I be punished" attitude first.

IMO the US attitude to guns ls like the UK's attitude towards alcohol with depressing numbers of fatalities on both sides. I'm not sure how you tackle a societal issue like that deliberately.

There is some cause for hope in the UK. Young people are drinking less and less often.

And for good reason even if it isn't apparent. A sudden and complete unavailability of alcohol would result in injuries, deaths and murders. A chaos that might not be readily visible but could be seen in the news. But alcoholic deaths due to sudden alcohol withdrawal (cold turkey) might not be in the news much.

I shudder to think of the domestic violence situation when the world immediately contains no alcohol. And much worse than that is the crystal-clear known fact that you aren't going to be getting any until further notice and notice isn't coming.

It's amazing isn't it? So far this month alone there has already been 78 mass shootings with 55 killed and another 344 shot, and from the best I can determine the overwhelming majority of them are black people. Yet this is rarely covered in the media or mentioned by politicians and "black leaders", but the death of one black man in Minneapolis has dominated the news this month. That's why BLM, politicians and the media are a complete joke. They don't give a flying **** about black lives until one is taken by a white cop.

But I have no clue what would get the US to acknowledge it's gone overboard with it's gun culture and try to correct it.

Any chance of reasonable gun control or even a discussion of about it has been set back many years by all the media driven destruction these last few weeks. Who would want to give up their means of self-defense when they know they can't depend on law enforcement during these types of events?

I have no idea where you've been living, or which media sources you've been using, but from my vantage point, on the other side of the pond, I was under the impression that it was very well known.

Other posters on this forum regularly cite such statistics.

It's not a question of priority, but of obscenity. We expect bad guys to kill and do bad guy stuff. That's kind of their thing. But police joining in with street executions on our dime and collecting State pensions off it? We have police to protect us from murderers, not to ******* be the murderers.

More guns fired just equates to more collateral damage. The bad guys by definition won't start being law abiding; I think they would ramp up accordingly. Do you really think gangbangers would be cowed by their enemies having guns? Their enemies already are armed and are not intimidated. No reason to be cowed by armed suburban daddy if they are not scared by other armed gangbangers.

Antifa runs away because he is only interested in showing nazis the door and understands that gangbanging is on a different spectrum than racism/facism and have little to do with each other.

Kind of like asking 'what happens when the suburban daddy is a roach exterminator and he runs into a shark'?
