Barbara Bush HATED Donald Trump on every level. While I do think Barbara Bush was a bit of a racist in the sense she didn't really have a clue what the lives of minorities were like. She was I believe a bit of a closet feminist.

Not a closet feminist, more like a facade-feminist, look behind the curtain and some of the biggest feminist causes she was not so interested in them.

Yes, she made a commencement speech that she'd like to see a woman in the White House. What else you got?

Full response in the Barb is dead thread.

trumps words on the Funeral.

"Heading to the Southern White House to watch the Funeral Service of Barbara Bush. First Lady Melania has arrived in Houston to pay our respects. Will be a beautiful day!"

I said 'a bit'. I read a few comments of hers on abortion that weren't what I expected. I always thought of her as that 1950s privileged woman without a clue that was inching her way forward.

That's the quote I was looking for.

"Heading to the Southern White House to watch the Funeral Service of Barbara Bush. First Lady Melania has arrived in Houston to pay our respects. Will be a beautiful day!"

He's not going to be there, but he's going to watch it on TV. I guess that makes it real.

Oh, and "It's a beautiful day for a funeral!"

... He's not going to be there, but he's going to watch it on TV. I guess that makes it real....
That way he can fantasize he was invited but was too great to be there, overshadowing everyone with his god-like presence. He's pretending to be all respectful like any POTUS invited to the funeral of past WH occupants.

The story of The Dunce referring to a New York Times journalist as "a third rate reporter named Maggie Haberman, known as a Crooked H flunkie who I don’t speak to and have nothing to do with," after posing with her in the Oval Office -- arm around her shoulders, big grin on Donnie's face as he flashes a thumbs-up -- reminds me of a magazine story I read about twenty years ago, by a local writer here in New York.

The writer had published a story about Donnie, a profile piece (long before anyone envisioned Trump ever running for political office). His editor agreed to contact the Trump Organization to request an interview with The Dunce himself, but confided he doubted Trump would approve it. But he did.

The writer said Trump was not only willing to be interviewed, but that the interviews (there were several) were lengthy and drawn out. Trump proved to be very cooperative and engaging. The writer said Trump actually seemed likeable, just that, as he was learning from various sources, Trump had a lot of "baggage." Donnie requested a copy of the article and was sent one upon publication. The writer said it was no puff piece but he had tried to be objective and fair. At any rate, he braced himself for The Dunce's reaction and in a day or two he got a brief but unforgettable note from The Man himself. Something along the lines:

Mark
Read your story today. Very disappointed. Very poor job. Poorly written too.

I have to tell you, as soon as we met, my opinion was, you're a guy who has
absolutely nothing going for himself. A loser.

I don't mean to be rude, just being honest.

(signed) best regards-
Donald Trump

The writer had the note framed and it has hung on his office wall ever since.

Trump is supposedly considering pardoning legendary, long-deceased boxer Jack Johnson, after having been lobbied by Sylvester Stallone. link This reminds me of a family anecdote: My great uncle Frank worked for a whiskey company in NYC that hired Johnson, then in his 60s, as a pitchman. Frank had a conversation with Johnson that supposedly went like this:

Frank: I wouldn't have wanted to run into you in a dark alley back in your prime.

Johnson: You wouldn't want to run into me in a dark alley now.

A second reason The Dunce did not attend Barbara Bush's funeral was

Out of respect? That I can believe. He trashed Jeb Bush during the campaign. More than just disagreement, outright mockery and ridicule. The Dumpster stands pretty much in opposition to everything the Bush family stands for. Plus, as a Republican senator once put it, quite eloquently, Trump is "a dirtbag." Screw him. Go play golf. Loser. Pathetic!

I suppose you’re just forgetting low energy Jeb attacked him. So Trump did what he does best, kicked a rinos ass!

Yeah sure, he’s supposed to let a low life reporter just attack him. Your side sure isn’t used to Trump even today.

Trump and his acolytes seem to imagine that any statement of unwelcome facts is an "attack."
