Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

Praise for the UK.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський
@ZelenskyyUa

I spoke with UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. The United Kingdom’s role in fortifying Europe’s defense and security is important for us.

We discussed upcoming plans and opportunities. UK’s support matters indeed, and we will never forget the respect the British people have shown for Ukraine and our citizens.

Thank you for your support.

I always thought the claims that Trump was a Russian stooge were overblown. It looks like they were underplayed.
What is there to say? I *wished* that saying such would have been overblown, but the evidence available at the time firmly convinced me otherwise.

Yeah. But at this point I would expect Trump to sell F-35s to Russia. He’s on their side now.
That Putin hates the United States, blames it for the fall of the Soviet Union, and has always seeked to destroy it seems to pass TRump by.
Tgye whole Russian natilnalist thng is to first destroy the United States as a grea power, then deal with CHina. GOod luck with that.
CHina is vastly more powerful then Russia.
Russia has always had a hatred for China. Probably goes back to the Mongols.

This attitude is exactly how Europe got into the current mess. The reality is that Moscow will always see it as a sign of weakness, and will always try to exploit. This has been true since Ghengis Khan first rode west.
Uh, Genghis Khan pretty much destroyed the Rusian state. I don't deny your basic point, but maybe Genghis was not the best choice as an example.
Yes, I am in fussy historian mode.

So Trump has utterly sold out to Putin?

Punished US allies with sanctions and threats, while rewarding Putin for his evil invasion. Not only that, he has BLAMED Ukraine and Zelensky for Putin’s invasion.

Holy ◊◊◊◊! I always thought the claims that Trump was a Russian stooge were overblown. It looks like they were underplayed.

This is an utter disgrace.

◊◊◊◊ Trump!

◊◊◊◊ Putin!

◊◊◊◊ MAGA!
Trump has done the impossible. He has made me ashamed to be an American.
And America will, eventually, pay the price for this betrayal. And it will be very expensive.

I was reassured repeatedly by Republican aligned posters that Trump would not abandon Ukraine.

To add to TP's response, no, you weren't. I would ask for evidence, but you would undoubtedly deploy the excuse that the search function is disabled to avoid providing any.

I said something to the effect that "There's no knowing what Trump will do, but it likely won't be great for Ukraine."

I also pointed out that Trump can't give weapons to Russia without Congressional approval, and that that will never happen. I suspect that you've somehow transmogrified that and and other related comments into assurances that "Trump won't abandon Ukraine."

Trump came in wanting to make America a respected power agains, he is making it despised throughout the world.
He is right about one thing, though" Europe is going t have to spend a Lot more on it's own defesne if it want to remain free. It cannot depend onthe United States Anymore.
TRump is destroying the US as a major power, and China is just waiting to move ito the void,

Trump doesn't give a damn whether the US is liked or respected; like Machiavelli's prince, he wants us to be feared. This is idiotic, of course, for a variety of reasons.

Well that was silly, we know Republicans cheer anything that Donald does or suggests.

Trump told the BBC after his anti Zelensky rant yesterday that Russia has "the cards" in negotiations because Russia has "taken a lot of territory"

Also the White House confirmed the tirade saying Zelensky is a dictator etc was in direct response to Zelensky saying that Trump lives in a “disinformation space”.

Trump´s strategy seems to be to provoke Zelensky into saying something against him in order to have the excuse to act stronger against Ukranian interests ,and have a sort of excuse.

Donald says Elon says he's right

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump

Elon Musk: "The President's instincts on Ukraine
are absolutely right. It is really sad that so many parents have lost their sons, and so many sons their fathers in this pointless war."

I don't think Trump is smart enough to have a strategy. He is just a stream of deranged consciousness and he knows how to read and manipulate people.

Pearl Harbour was poorly defended for a Sunday, A real disgrace.
They had months to be ready, and if I was President, this wouldn't have happened.
We could have easily cut a deal.
