Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

Hmm? May as well ask for a bit of clarification there. Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan was rather well done, under the nasty circumstances at hand. Trump's "planned" withdrawal would have almost certainly been a ********, at last check. I think I'd raise the Kurds as more likely to inform Trump's Ukraine moves, either way. Trump rather literally disarmed the Kurds and then delivered them into the hands of those who desired to commit genocide against them, after all.

Informing their British allies about the speedy pullout might have been helpful.

British Defence Secretary John Healey says there will be no talks about Ukraine without Ukraine involved

Healey adds the UK remains committed to ensuring Kyiv is in the strongest negotiating and fighting position as he says "durable peace" remains the goal

Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte says any peace agreement reached must ensure Russia will make no further attempts to annexe Ukrainian land in the future

Hegseth says Trump's attempts to negotiate a peace deal are "certainly not a betrayal" of Ukrainian soldiers.

complete sellout

confirming Tulsi Gabbard, who will provide the Russians with targeting information.
I keep hearing she´s a Russian asset but what is the evidence for it? I just read her wikipedia entry and there seems to have been a strong campaign to try to discredit her, resorting to using media outlets that misquoted her words etc. but little of sustance. Anyone can shed some light? Honest question...

Ukraine loses Donbas & Crimea but gains EU membership and a security guarantee from Europe.

Sounds like a decent compromise.

OK you lose your garden to your neighbour but I promise to not let him have your garage until I get bored and want it myself.

How does that sound?

What's the alternative? Russia is NOT going to withdraw from Donbas or Crimea, not unless the USA joins the fight.

There is no alternative, far as I can see. Ukraine is going to bend over and take it. Putin managed to delay/wait long enough for his toy Trump to get back into office. This from someone casually keeping an eye on the situation, I am no expert, so I ask anyone else if I am wrong. But it doesn't look good.

Afghanistan should be taken

not how the EU works - Ukraine is not up to scratch in terms of the Rule of Law, fighting Corruption and democratic institutions to join the EU.
Even if extremely fast-tracked, it will take 5-10 years.

There is no scenario where Ukraine reconquers all of their lost land, or Russia withdraws from conquered land in Ukraine, that does not involve a third world war with the USA, possibly going nuclear.

Its a ◊◊◊◊◊◊ situation but its where we are.

Ukraine will have to give up land....IN EXCHANGE for strong security agreements with Europe that will mean a full Europe vs Russia war if Russia ever attacks Ukraine again.

But without such a security arrangement with Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Poland, etc....Ukraine should sign no deal.

Zelensky should be calling Trump daily telling him what a big strong guy he is and how Putin is a sad loser and he'll be his best friend if he just helps them kick that loser Putin out of his country and he can build Trump Hotels all over Ukraine, including Crimea, and have have all the rare whatever's he wants, but he has to help kick that loser Putin out once and for all, because he's a big strong tough guy and Putin is likely afraid of him, really.
He was an actor and comedian before becoming President, I'll bet he can even do it with a straight face.

I have a feeling it will be status quo ante bellum as far as territory goes.'
BTW Hesgarth backtracked on Ukraine Nato Membership.
The situation is fluid. I think Trump is in a quandry here; I think he just want the way to end and off his plate. I am betting Putin'f failure in Ukraine has cost PUtin a lot of Trump's respect.
Trump also backtracked on Putin maiing an American VIsit; Trump has go tot know that would be a circus with the massive protests athe would happen, and he knows many in hos own party don't like Putin.

Trump has already been muttering about Zelensky's polling numbers and Ukraine might be all Russian.

I think that's Trump anticipating Russian interference in the next election and Ukraine being forced into Russian servitude.

Ukraine will not agree to any peace deal proposed by the US and Russia without its involvement, President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned, after Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin pledged to begin talks to end the war.

"We cannot accept it, as an independent country," Zelensky said.
