i don0t know, in German there is no specific name for it, there is in english?
Appeal to ignorance isn't a very convincing excuse.
Let's call a spade a spade and call it a dictatorship, shall we? In German, Diktatur.

And China is simply too big to go into debt because nobody is going to lend them enough money to make that strategy work. Plus they're a party dictatorship, not an individual dictator, which changes incentives.
Appeal to ignorance isn't a very convincing excuse.

You're apparently using a definition of "freedom of press" that markedly differs from all other known to man. It could be a special type of cheesecake for all I know.
Please tell us what 'level' of freedom of press can you have when journalists are prosecuted for reporting?
McHrozni
wel its not a Dictatorhsip, why sould i call it something that it is not?
look , its not a black and white issue.
Really? It's not a dictatorship? Why does it violate freedom of the press based on political stance, then?
McHrozni
Persecuting journalists that give favorable coverage to opposition is black and white issue. Essentially they're saying those journalists are criminals, and you're claiming such country is a democracy. Based on what, exactly?
McHrozni
yes its not a dictatorship.
If so, what else would it have to do in order to be a dictatorship?
McHrozni
It would have to change it's name to Colombia, Russia or Mexico? Why is that a requirement for a dictatorship?
McHrozni
its a democracy with a big problem in freedom of press and other issues. but there is press critical of chavez, and there are elections.
well according to you, limited freedom of press is the requirement for a dictatorship, making Colombia and Mexico a Dictatorship.
well i didn't know you call those countries Dictatorships.
There are also elections in North Korea, and they don't make it a democracy or a republic. Elections are essential for a democracy, but not all elections are relevant. Venezuelan elections can't be free and fair due to the "big problem in freedom of the press" alone, let alone other accusations.
Do you have a different reason why it would be a democracy? Say, demonstrate it has a functional independent judiciary. It is an essential element of democracy, if you can prove it I'll admit it's still a flawed democracy.
McHrozni
They're hybrid regimes on a good road to dictatorship. It's not a black or white issue (which you apparently understood earlier), and Colombia and Mexico both fail several democratic tests. Venezuela fails even more however.
Russia, on the other hand, is a dictatorship.
McHrozni
so you ae of the opinion that Colombia and Mexico are Dictatorhsips. How about Irak, did they make it to a Democracy already?
well both Colombia and Mexico fail more in regard to freedom of press as Venezuela does.
How about you stop trying to change the subject and resort to straw man arguments and divert attention and stick to the subject, namely Venezuela is a dictatorship. You can prove me wrong, show me that it has an independent judiciary. It's a major element of a democracy, as important as free and fair elections. You already agreed that a judge was jailed for political reasons, so it's entirely up to you to show why it's not a dictatorship.
McHrozni
Both are also graded better overall than Venezuela on the source you used, so you can shut up about them
We aren't trying to make a list of all dictatorships, but merely debating Venezuela.
