Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

One thing's for sure, if the rhetoric I've seen here and elsewhere on the Internet is any indication: our politically-oriented media will have a frakkin' field day with this. I can't wait for all the political talking heads on Fox News, MSNBC, etc to twist this tragedy into some kind of argument for why their side is good and the other side is evil. More slop for the pigs to gobble up

Sad to know that JREF is on the same level as Fox and MSNBC when it comes to this.

Nothing you've said is dependent upon facts, either.

So Dr. Tiller wasn't murdered? Sarah Palin didn't put rifle crosshairs on Gifford's district? Her tea party opponent didn't have a fundraiser where people paid to shoot pictures of her with M-16's? Sharron Angle did not make the "second amendment remedies" comment?

My arguments are completely based on fact, they just do not depend upon the shooter having any particular motive.

But please, share the awesome factual foundation upon which your arguments are built.

And if any good comes out of this tragedy, a discussion of the over the top Rebub fearmongering would be it.

If that's the Jared in those posts, he doesn't fit the description of a 22 yr old, but I guess it isn't impossible.

I'll bet the guy is mentally disturbed, but still is a fan of right-wing politics and personalities.

....a little redundant...I know.

He's all over the place:

Karl Marx, Ken Kesey, Lewis Carroll, Plato... not exactly at the top of the Right Wing Book Club.

How about Mein Kampf. That's a right-winger's all-time classic.

I think they all get one under their pillow after they lose their first tooth.

its clear, that except for The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf, this guy's book selection is a standard for any good anti-Authoritarian self-made revolutionary.

I found this on the shooter's youtube channel. Not sure if anyone else here on the JREF forums have pointed this out before but, it seems that the shooter was into mind control and something called "conscience dreams":

Somehow, I am reminded of that conspiracy nut who flew a small airplane into the pentagon a while back. Can't remember that guy's name though.

So you have no comment about the right wing rhetoric about guns and violent remedies unless it turns out it directly caused this incident? You're OK with that campaign tactic until it leads directly to a murder or shooting?

You think by just mouthing the blandest platitudes you're making a point? Please, continue as others have in this thread thinking out loud.

Whatever the quality of the point, you still missed it.
