Presidential Primaries 2016

At least now the whole idea of letting the networks run the debates is being blasted by just about everybody.Bad idea. Not because of a net work's political bias, but because only thing they care about is ratings.
The "GIve it back to the League Of Women Voters: choruses are increasing.

The League of Women Voters never handled Primary debates to start with. So that chorus would be out of tune.

Whoops! Kasich was on the Leman Brothers' board and a managing general partner (whatever that is). My bad, he has an Achilles' heel.
To an outsider maybe "partner" implies that all partners have equal power. Not so in the least. As head of a profit unit or some other organizational unit, a "managing partner" holds power that others do not. He's like the boss, even over other partners. I've been both and there's a BIG difference.

So far... Rubio's cemented himself as my favorite Republican candidate. Hillary is my Democrat option, should I cross party lines.

*As always when I post a candidate selection however I have a disclaimer; On the Republican side, the option is dependent on him getting the nomination. The Democrat Choice is dependent on the Hillary maintaining her lead and Sanders not making himself a viable alternative.

If it's Rubio vs Hillary, I'm inclined to go Rubio...
If it's anyone else against Hillary, I'm more than likely going for Hillary. Chris Christie's probably the only other Republican candidate that appeals to me all that well.

Sander's is still way too far to the left for me on taxation. His only appeal to me is similar to Rubio... his net worth isn't sky high as it is for most everyone else in the two fields meaning the two have some qualities that allow them to relate to the average Joe. If Sander's tax plans moderate a fair bit when he explains them there's a chance that he could top my vote on Hillary or Rubio/Christie

We'll see how things go of course

They should have the people that moderate or judge national debate championships do it.

This is so sad I'm beginning to feel the beginning of a possibility of a chance for some sympathy for Jeb!.

Jeb Bush paid 10 staffers to make more than 70,000 phone calls to Iowa Republicans — and all they’ve got to show for their efforts is four volunteers.

Even typing it gives me a SEG all over my face.

Who wants to place odds on those four actually showing up?

If anyone has a resume ready, Bush is looking for a new Chief Operating Officer for his campaign.

The chief operating officer of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's struggling presidential campaign is out, according to a Friday report in the Wall Street Journal.

Christine Ciccone was responsible for logistics and got paid about $12,000 a month.

European betting is pushing the odds in different directions

Rubio 3:2
Trump 7:2
JEB 6:1
Carson 7:1

In a sense, these debates really depend on the candidates themselves and their collective and individual willingness to abide by anyone's authority. There's no inherent power in the RNC and DNC to determine debates. Candidates are free to accept any invitation to take the stage with other candidates and duke it out. I am actually surprised that the RNC chair Reince Priebus is able to carry through on his determination to limit the GOP debate schedule. If anything, I would have thought that this ridiculously unruly batch of candidates would have stepped all over him by now, but it seems that sometimes herding cats is easier than cats forming up on their own in organized action.

Ah, my original prediction has come about. Priebus cannot control this process. Indeed these cats can't get organized, but then they can't very well be herded either. It's inevitable. If there's one personality trait a presidential candidate needs to cultivate to be successful, it's a sense of being in charge. That's why D. Trump is having such a good run at it. Submissiveness to authority, even party apparatus, is not something voters look for in a President. I would say especially not party apparatus. The nominee takes de facto control of the party apparatus. Submitting to the authority of Reince Priebus is heading in the wrong direction for any of these candidates.

I'm sure no one cares, but duty must be done -- L. Lessig has ended his one-issue campaign. Dutifully struck.

In as much as qualification for the main stage debate and the kids' table matter in the progress of these matters, here's a fun article about the line-up for the next GOP debate and how Fox Business Channel is determining participants.

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/11/chris-christie-republican-debate-215539

The headline is that C. Christie is looking imminently to be demoted from the main stage, while M. Huckabee, R. Paul and J. Kasich are safe. Looking at the next trap door down, there's some danger for B. Jindal and/or G. Pataki falling through altogether, depending on which national polls are used for qualification.

How will these moves impact the coming strikethroughs in this thread? The whole world eagerly awaits.

What wailing and gnashing of teeth will we see on Morning Joe, where so much time has been spent spinning the fanciful tale of the C. Christie revival?

Looks like they either caved to the complaints there were too many candidates on the main stage, or they wanted someone who attracts an audience to increase the viewer numbers for the Kid's table.

[/cynical]

I don't think they cared so much about the outcome to manipulate it. Those relegated jokers aren't bringing in the viewers. D. Trump (especially) and B. Carson and M. Rubio and J. Bush are the draw. Based on their pre-stated qualifications criteria it would be pretty hard to manipulate the outcome anyway. That is, the criteria for the senior debate was at least 3% average of last 4 national polls, and for the junior debate 1%. The only chance to manipulate was in the choice of polls included in the pool.

i think it's possible that Fox News did just such a maneuver to give J. Kasich a boost up to the first debate though.

Jeb Bush states that, if he had the chance, he would go back in time and kill baby Hitler.

"Hell yeah, I would!" the former Florida governor told The Huffington Post. "You gotta step up, man."

Bush said he knows there's no way to predict how the course of human history would change -- and whether World War II could have been avoided -- had the eventual German dictator never escaped infancy.

The question came from a poll from New York Times magazine.

"It could have a dangerous effect on everything else, but I'd do it -- I mean, Hitler," Bush said.

Obviously, he means that he would kill Hitler just after he was born, because killing him while he was still in the womb would just be EVIL.

Look for Hilary to put a lot of distance between herself and Obama's very ill timed "We have ISIS contained" statement this week.....

He didn't say they were contained, he said their physical expansion into new territory was contained. It's unfortunate that statement has been misconstrued.
