Presidential Primaries 2016

He didn't say they were contained, he said their physical expansion into new territory was contained. It's unfortunate that statement has been misconstrued.

Maybe, but Obama should have known it was going to be misconstrued. I think Obama himself really regrets how he worded that.

They take anything Obama says on any subject and misrepresent it. Republicans are cheering that this attack in Paris happened.

Sorry, but that last sentence is outrageous and wrong and stupid.. It's as bad as anything the Tea Party has said about the Democrats.

No, it's evident. I've seen so many posts in Facebook by conservatives using the Paris attacks as a way to attack Obama.

That does mean they are "Happy" about the Paris attacks.
And lots of people on the left used the 9/11 attacks to attack Dubya.
By your logic they were happy about 9/11.

Hilary just broke with Obama on "Staying the course" vis a vis ISIS.
BTW I think Paris attacks might well claim Sanders as a victim. His dovish attitude toward terrorism is going be a very hard sell except to his faithful.

Are Graham, Pataki and Gilmore still officially in the race? Santorum and Huckabee? Do these people have campaign organizations to pay and are they actively stumping in places like Iowa or New Hampshire?

Seems like these people have less chance than Scott Walker did when he dropped out.

I really feel like there are two classes of candidates on the R side. Those running for president and those running for a better Fox News contract/Book sales. Walker believed he had a shot, so dropped out once that was gone, probably to lick his wounds and maybe try again. Huckabee and Co are there to keep their name out their among their base so they can get on TV and sell books.

ETA: though Walker's run also coincided with some moves as Governor that alienated some of his support. Anecdotal, but my sister's roommate is Ms. Young Republican, up at a Wisconsin college, and went from kissing the ground he walked on to cursing Walkers' name in the past year.

According to the bookies, Rubio has a slight lead over Trump and Cruz who are tied. JEB is a little further back in the race for the nomination.

As for the presidency, a $22 bet will pay:

$16 if Clinton wins,

$121 if Rubio wins,

$176 if Trump wins,

$220 if Cruz wins,

$440 if Sanders wins, and

$484 if Bush wins.

According to those odds, the only real race is for second prize.

Hillary better hope he doesn't run, he's a direct threat to her right-leaning, corporatist, establishment base, donors and endorsers!

But he says he's more likely to run if Sanders is nominated.

If Republicans were to nominate Mr. Trump or Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, a hard-line conservative, and Democrats chose Mr. Sanders, Mr. Bloomberg — who changed his party affiliation to independent in 2007 — has told allies he would be likely to run.

Nationally, he's best known as a champion for gun control, so not sure exactly how that would work out.

Disaffected Hillary die-hards would find Bloomberg a good foil. It would seem reasonable that since their politics is similar enough that there could be crossover support.

But I do believe that the vast majority of Hillary's supporters will quickly and rather easily (some, perhaps, even "relievibly") become Sanders supporters when he accepts nomination.
