Well, there was a big bunch of rainclouds headed towards Texas, but they were coming from Mexico and were turned back at the border.

So just to review, Perry is an opponent of climate change, which is not the cause of but probably making the fires worse.
He has mentioned seceding from the United States in the past but now seeks federal assistance.
He wants Texas to return to its "normal and robust way of life," which completely ignores the fact Texas has a serious poverty problem on its hands.
And to top it all off his idea of leadership is to pray a problem away.
I am loathe to give Goodhair an iota of credit, but I'll at least acknowledge his ecumenicism.
"I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to offer prayers..."
Like I said in the other thread on exactly the same topic--Since there is not a damn thing we can do about the Weather, if it makes various religious sects feel like they are doing something, let 'em have at it. It certainly is not going to hurt anything-or anybody.
It's a traditional way to allow the helpless think that they are being helpful

You know, for expenses plus a nominal fee, I'd be happy to take a camping trip to Texas. I have no doubt that this would trigger record rainfall in short order.![]()
I have a friend who summons hurricanes every time she plans a pool party and cookout.
Those areas that burned will certainly be subject to flooding. It's weird--we're on the edge of it, and if the fronts moved just a few feet per hour faster, or the dry line a feet feet per hour slower, we'd be soaked. If it is anything like Australia, a massive flood will be next.
Silly man, gophers are not made of wood. But they do float...Hell--this time last year I was looking for a Gopher Wood supplier--and I have not moved...
I knew I shouldn't have killed off all those little bastards...Silly man, gophers are not made of wood. But they do float...
Resurrecting this thread with an update--despite Perry's "pray for rain" campaign back in April, it turns out that 2011 was the driest year on record for Texas.
It's rained 57 out of the last 87 days here in Dallas. We may break the record for the wettest May if we get another inch or so of rain.
Ok god...we've had enough!![]()
