Merged pray'n for rain in Texas

It's rained 57 out of the last 87 days here in Dallas. We may break the record for the wettest May if we get another inch or so of rain.

Ok god...we've had enough! :)

My brother is trying to sell a house on a hill overlooking Lake Travis near Austin. The lake levels have been so low, it's hard to interest buyers. It's a fabulous house, swimming pool, a man cave over the garage, gorgeous sunrises, all the good stuff. Not good to talk about the great view of the lake when it's been so low.

This is what he's been watching.

Incredible rise in such a short time.

And, really, why praise God for a rescue from a disaster He caused? Sounds like the ill-conceived scheme of some poor sap trying to impress others in a wacky comedy.

One of my favorite quotes comes from a woman standing in front of a demolished building. "Thank God more people weren't killed!" She's a preacher and that's her church behind her. IIRC eight people were killed and scores injured. They "took shelter in the Lord".

I just notice on MSN that Justin Bieber has a great relationship with God, praying 2-3 times a day - though he isn't religious.

As if floods weren't enough!

Presumably he didn't talk with God about Texas?

On the news this morning, there is an earthen damn near Midlothian that is expected to break sometime today. Fortunately, it's mostly farm land below the damn, so there's not alot risk to homes or lives.

I recall a similar situation in the UK many years ago.

The government appointed a Minister for Drought, and when the floods arrived, changed his job title to Minister for Floods.

I don't remember how successful he was...

Just check Wikipedia - within days of making Denis Howell Minister for Drought, the country was hit by major Rainstorms!

Still a long way to go before it hits 2011 levels. At least its heading in the right direction.
