Merged Obama Birth Certificate Released

Trump was royally pwned at the correspondants' dinner by a very funny Obama routine and a pretty good performance by Seth Myers. The Donald sat stone-faced and dour through most of the jokes hurled at him by the President and the Saturday Night Live comic, chuckling a little only when teased about his duties relating to his reality program.

One of my favorite lines:
For Trump's decision to fire actor Busey instead of rock singer Meat Loaf from his TV show earlier this month, Obama quipped: "These are the types of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled, sir."
Quite a few of the jokes were related to the "birther" issue mocking Trump in subtle and not so subtle ways, and Obama played video of his birth! (A scene from Lion King). :D

I had the impression that the audience was having a good laugh at Trump's expense, as if to say "you deserve it you jerk" for latching onto this birther business. It was an intense volley of pretty well done roasts, and Trump's look of abject anger as well as the embarrassed mien and uneasy body language of the people at his table were priceless.

I'm thinking Trump's display this evening of a humorless curmudgeon who brought humiliation upon himself will not gain him favor as a politician but will become a viral caricature of a loser who pandered once too often to the conspiracy crowd.

Trump and the rest of the birther movement deserve all the mocking they get, for all their obvious idiocy.

It's sad that so many Americans still take their foolishness seriously, though.

The Biden bit is what cracked me up.

For those that don't know, the song they play in that bit is "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" by A rapper named "Ol' Dirty Bastard.":D

It is nice to know the birthers are going back the to the the Vattel argument now, which is their weakest and most telling argument.

Obama definitely had some zingers in there and Seth Myers ripped the Donald a new one. The Donald was not ammused. :p All I can say is he was asking for it.

How far do you think Trump has gotten in the polls?

A new Public Policy Polling poll shows Trump with 26 percent of likely voters, Mike Huckabee with 17 percent, Mitt Romney with 15 percent, and Newt Gingrich with 11 percent.
http://www.wpbf.com/politics/27588604/detail.html

He never was a serious contender[...]. Polls taken over a year ahead of time that show a candidate like Trump getting numbers similar to other candidates aren't very meaningful. Those numbers also depend on what list of candidates you offer. And finally, most of those same polls (that showed Trump "tied" or "in the lead" with less 30% of Republican voters would choose him out of a list) also showed something like 40% of Republican voters who would rather he didn't run.

So what ? That doesn't change the fact I stated that Trump did shockingly;y well in early polls.

I think many people have grossly over-hyped what you can conclude from these polls.
I conclude only that is is surprising and even shocking. I think that Trump poll performance is quite astonishing, despite your excuses.

It's not a strawman, but a statement of fact.
Why else was this even an issue in the first place?
the release of the short form certificate should have been good enough for EVERYONE, but it wasn't.

Show the EVIDENCE of this FACT ! It's just ad hominem hate speech in support of your opinion w/o evidence.

I agree that the early evidence was sufficient for everyone except the kooky paranoid conspiracy believers, but that doesn't make the motive racism. It's equally obviously that the paranoid left made kooky claims against Bush2. Recall all the claims that the Florida election decision was a coup of the supreme court based on politics ? That Cheney was really in charge, that Bush2 was secretly in league with the Saudi royal family ? Remember Clinton the Vince Foster kooks ?

Stupid people making stupid unjustifiable claims against a politicians didn't start with Obama's presidency. It's not racism, it's the typical kooks and their political animus - get a grip.

Clearly Obama could have released the long form 2+ years ago, but he seems to have a political motive to tweak consiracy kooks into a frenzy. When it became a detriment to policy - only then did he release the documents. I think that's nasty - but politics is politics.

Sadly there are kooks on every part of the political spectrum. If you wish to be considered one of them - then keep blindly accusing others of racism without any substantiation.

Before you try some mal-aimed ad hominem - I am not a republican nor a democrat. I never liked Bush2, and thought he turned out to be a pretty awful president. Obama is doing just as badly IMO.

Let's say, for a moment, that the Birthers are right. Obama was born somewhere else and therefore spent a couple of weeks abroad as an infant. Thus he can't even remember it.

For that he can't be President? Seriously? A guy who just accomplished something a definite American never could (getting Bin Laden dead) is to be disqualified from continuing his job over something he can't even remember because he was a freaking infant.

Think about it you people. Even if you were right seeing this through really makes you look like the vindictive, opportunist ******** you are.

Exactly. The whole Birther nonsense misses the point; even if they're right (which they're clearly not but nevermind that for now...), WHO CARES?

Well apparently the democratic will of the people can be trumped (geddit?) by an irrelevant technicality.

No, but wouldn't surprise me if it was. I am just glad he finally showed some respect to the rule of law and the American people, even if he forged it, and produced something that legitimately shows he was born where he said, in that specific hospital, rather than a baby born elsewhere, flown to Hawaii and registered there as a Hawaiian birth.

At least he produced some evidence. 3 years too late but it's something.

Wow.

Wrong. It is an abstracted form. It appears that since the beginning of this year, it would be acceptable. Prior years, it appears there was inconsistency in their requirements and short-forms were discouraged. The COLB Obama originally produced was not even what Hawaii issues today, btw.

You guys just don't want to accept the facts.

Yes but was it the form that was issued in Hawaii at the time he received it?

Hmmmmmmm?

For that he can't be President?

It depends, in this scenario his mother is still a US citizen, and therefore he would be a citizen by blood? So, no it would not matter.

The rule may well be a stupid rule. However, if Obama really had been born in Kenya, and faked evidence, then it would be a very serious matter indeed, and should disqualify him from being president forthwith.

There are no bad consequences from him being born outside the country - but the potential consequences for him being born outside the country and concealing it would be potentially appalling. Consider the Watergate incident, where it was the coverup which did the damage, taking down an entire administration.

Imagine if Obama had been born overseas. Then the head of some major corporation finds unequivocal evidence about it. They meet with Obama and say that they'll destroy it in exchange for certain favours - being allowed to pollute, say, or provide sub-standard equipment to the military. Isn't that a potentially dangerous situation?

It doesn't matter a whit IMO whether Obama was born outside the US - except that there's a rule about it. That rule should be changed or obeyed. It can't be ignored.

Since there's never been any question about Obama being US born, it's a moot point.
