For passports, they sometimes do not even accept the short-form and require the long-form. Could be states are requiring a new form in order to make some money off of people. $45 for a certified copy seems a bit high.If Hawaii works the same as New Mexico, then that is the case. I have copies of my "long form" birth certificate from New Mexico, but when I aplied for some official paperwork and was required to submit my birth certificate, I was told by the state agency I was dealing with that the document I had was not the accepted version and I needed to pay $45 to get the currently accepted format.
Worth noting besides the canard that Obama could not have his birth certificate released, CNN went as far a few years ago to say the paper copies were destroyed and no longer on file, which of course is not true.
But it's interesting the lengths some go to in defending Obama.
