If he isn't allowed to pollute the Earth to get to Mars we will never get to Mars? Oh well that's a pity.
Mars in two years he said. Hmm.

looks like tesla is at the closed course studio testing their prototype robotaxi in preparation for the reveal. while i’m not completely convinced somebody won’t be killed by one during the event, i do want to keep my told you so options open here.

Robtaxis will be like commercial cold fusion reactors, always twenty years in the future.
He's supposed to be concentrating on getting to the Moon. He has a contract with NASA to fulfil.

No. I do too.Am I the only one that thinks Starship as lunar lander is an utterly mental idea?
It's important to realise that the ambition is more than just "land, get some rocks, take off" this time. They do need something more substantial than the original LEM. However, SpaceX was in competition with two other landers both of which were further progressed in design and both of which looked more plausible than landing a Starship on the Moon. The one time men have landed on the moon they did so in the spacecraft equivalent of a go-kart. A craft with absolutely the essentials and nothing else.
I realise there's been a lot of advances in material science, engine technology and the like in the last 60 years, but I really can't see the point in hauling all that extra mass- with all that entails in fuel costs and thrust requirements - down to the lunar surface and back up into lunar orbit again.
I can't see it working. I could be wrong.
In various tweets he's said that he's backing Trump because he will get rid of all the unnecessary red tape holding back his Mars mission. It's essential for the future survival of mankind which is more important than a bit of pollution.
Given that Musk is using the concept of robotaxis to prop up the Tesla share price fraudulently, you could argue that robtaxis already exist.

No it isn't.
Even if Musk eventually gets to Mars, almost all of us will be staying here on Earth. It's much more important for our future (as opposed to Musk's future and a few other people) not to screw up this planet.

When mankind can evacuate to Mars, there is no reason to cut down on emissions on Earth. “Mankind” being of course a bunch of rich guys - and their servants. It's essential for the future survival of mankind which is more important than a bit of pollution.
