Cont: Musk, SpaceX and future of Tesla II

Please give some examples. I'm having trouble thinking of any where the product arrived three years late and costing twice as much as originally advertised.
i'm not concerned about specific numbers. I'm talking about the general practice. Disney oversells its future product line. Boeing oversells its future product line. Video game developers do it. Defense contractors do it. Startups do it. Utility companies do it. The exact details of each particular failure vary. Boeing just fails to deliver proper avionic software and training. Disney just cuts amenities and paywalls amenities that used to be complimentary. Nike just flat-out misses its market goals and earnings targets. Defense contractors just do whatever it is they do to get extensions and budget increases. But there's no thread about Disney. There's no thread about Boeing.*

And it's not like Musk does it all the time. Sure, there's the Cybertruck. On the other hand, SpaceX sure does seem to have delivered on the promise of lowering space launch costs with reusable rockets. Of the two, I know which is much more significant and valuable to the world.

*I'm not saying there needs to be. I'm not the one with a thread-worthy hate-on for those companies to the exclusion of all others.

The original company that announced Duke Nukem Forever went out of business because they failed to deliver.

Incidentally, when it did come out, I bought a physical copy because, for years it was the go to meme for vapourware. It was a bit **** but it didn't cost any more than any other FPS game of the era.

When was the last time Apple or Samsung or any other car manufacturer other than Musk said they were going to release a product for X$, then actually released it for 2X$?

I know you don't like this question, because you keep ignoring it.

So you can't name any specific examples.

We are looking for a product that is more than 100% late on time scales, more than 100% over on list price and falls short of the original specification.

Musk had invented a new bait and switch. Customers thought they were buying a product designed to be aligned with a left/socially progressive mindset. Instead it is the bloated and expensive product of a new right Trump loving nazi.

Bringing out a new generation of rocketry is a nice to have but enabling a powerful right wing resurgence makes this a bad trade-off. Musk is going to lose his main customer base and the MAGA crowd loathes anything to do with electric vehicles and solar energy.

Should we be looking forward to Tesla Oil and/or a range of Tesla ICE vehicles.

the exact details is why there's a thread about musk and not about whoever runs boeing. boeing got it's own thread when it's planes started crashing and disney when they got tangled up with desantis, for example. or how about when texas can't keep the power on? my electric company doesn't have a thread, not fair to texas. oh, mine can keep the power on in winter.

guess these details are kind of important.

It's a prototype, there will be problems! It's the inevitable future! Innovation! Love the truck, though!

Meanwhile Hyundai shoves an electric motor into an already-existing chassis and it just works with no issues whatsoever apparently.

"Galaxy Brain" and his "scam" rocket company have been asked to retrieve astronauts from the space station that were stranded there by Boeing's Starliner.

NASA has given Boeing $5.6 billion for the commercial crew program and they have not managed one successful crewed flight.

NASA has given SpaceX $3.1 billion for the same program and they have managed 13 successful crewed flights.
