Yes. If you were left in space unprotected, you would die because you wouldn't be able to breathe, but you wouldn't freeze solid[1] or explode. In fact, you could survive for a few seconds (something like what hapens in 2001).

A spaceship also radiates heat, but you can generate more than enough energy to keep the temperature constant inside.

the fuel burns invisible in vacuum (no oxygen)

overexposed white landscape bled over the crosshairs on the film (ive done this with my own camera before)

its not the same hill, they just looked similar (face it, the scenery on the moon is dull)

they took lots of pictures to make sure they got them right (i have digital copies of all pictures from apollo 14, there are lots of duplicates and plenty of poorly framed and out of focus shots that didnt make the cover of time magazine)

it was a hair on platen when the picture was scanned, the original doenst have the hair (it was from apollo 17 IIRC, im trying to find a complete set of those images)

Depends on where they've been floating around. If you're gallivating around Earth orbit, they should be nicely toasted. Think "freeze-dry, then broil". Need some spicing, most likely. Closer to Jupiter, not so well done, and in sore need of heating before serving, for the cultured Bug-Eyed Monsters at least.

Even more fun: try spilling water in a vacuum. It'll freeze AND boil at the same time!

I have found a more complete answer to this, with some examples.

At NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center (now renamed Johnson Space Center) we had a test subject accidentally exposed to a near vacuum (less than 1 psi) in an incident involving a leaking space suit in a vacuum chamber back in '65. He remained conscious for about 14 seconds, which is about the time it takes for O2 deprived blood to go from the lungs to the brain. The suit probably did not reach a hard vacuum, and we began repressurizing the chamber within 15 seconds. The subject regained consciousness at around 15,000 feet equivalent altitude. The subject later reported that he could feel and hear the air leaking out, and his last conscious memory was of the water on his tongue beginning to boil.

They say that 'exposure to space for half a minute or so is unlikely to produce permanent injury'.

I have found a vmore complete answer to this, with some numbers. They say that 'exposure to space for half a minute or so is unlikely to produce permanent injury'.

Well, the Event Horizon bodies were way out by the orbit of Neptune, and they were in the decompressed ship. The indication is that they died before the decompression. When they turn the gravity back on, the body lands and 'shatters' from its crystalization.
