MAGA after Trump - What happens after Trump is dead ?

.

Sure. US politics has been a game of calvinball since January anyway.

Honestly, and this might be better suited for a new thread, but sometimes I wonder if US elections would work better if people just voted for their preferred party, and then either the winning party decided who got to be head of state (this is the way it works in Norway), or primary elections could be held so people could vote on the presidential candidate from that party that they wanted most. I imagine it could remove all the personal attacks from the discussion and help focus attention on party politics. Maybe I'm just being naïve, though, and I know there's pros and cons for both ways of doing things.

This comes up from time to time. Unfortunately, the differences between
parliamentary and presidential systems aren't as distinct as all that.
Consider: In a parliamentary election, a squeaker vote puts the MAGAPUBLICANS in
office, and who do they install but Juan Péron* and we're right where
we are now.

* Sorry, I meant Just Who You Think I Meant.

I was thinking you meant tequila, and was knee jerking a thumbs up.

Péron is not a good example, because (I believe) Argentina also had
a presidential system at that time. [Like many Norteños, I dont make a specialty
of Latin American political history. I haven't the heart for it. At the present
time, I dont have the stomach either; too many resemblances to us up here.]

The Nazis and Hitler make a better analogy.

I think the end of Trump 1.0 tells us all about what happens after Trump 2.0: pretty much everyone had written off Trump for a second term, distancing themselves from Jan 6th and waiting to see who would be left standing after the legal fallout.
The MAGA base was neutralized by the arrests and trials and a widespread belief that they had been infiltrated and set up by the FBI.

It took over two years to figure out that Trump would remain untouched by Jan 6th and remained the only viable candidate for 2024, as no one could possibly run without his support, and he wouldn't let anyone take his spot.

2028 will come with the MAGA base again feeling betrayed with none of the Tariff Money being send their way and their jobs being in peril due to inflation, trade wars and lack of migrant labor, and the US fighting in multiple theaters. The attempt to make Trump 3.0 happen will once again create a massive legal risk to everyone who didn't manage to obtain a Pardon.

Trump will either be dead or to infirm to really campaign for anyone or care who comes after him. In fact, he will do everything he can to tear down any credible successor.

Given how "It was Biden's\the Dems fault" is a reflexive answer I think you're overestimating the MAGA base and their ability to be introspective about their actions.

I'm betting on nihilism, not introspection, the realization that even Trump went up against The System and The System won.

"But it was rigged from the start! etc. etc."
Blaming their opponents for their own failures has turned into both a lifestyle and an artform for them, the harder reality hits them the harder they double down .

100% agree.
And both Trump 1 and 2 promised to fix this, got every support possible and then some, and still failed.
The only possible take-home message is that the NWO is unbeatable, and you better just move to Russia or join a Cult or Compound somewhere and wait for the FBI to shoot you. No one in MAGA thinks Vance or Rubio will succeed where Trump didn't.

I actually don't think Vance has a chance in hell of being the next president, he's this regime's Rudolf Hess, in the position he's in because he's too weak to be a threat.
VP Maybelline needs to be flown in a Messerschmidt 110 fighter to Scotland, there to be interred for the duration of...well, his life. Near an offshore wind turbine.

?

My thoughts were predicated on Trump dying in office with Vance then assuming the presidency. From there, he has:
  • The incumbency
  • The bully pulpit
  • The complete support of right wing media
  • The complete support of the party apparatus
  • No primary challenger in the next election cycle, while the Democrats will have to go through the prolonged process of choosing a candidate
  • Republican voters everywhere dedicated to protecting Trump’s accomplishments and legacy against the Democrats assuming power and reversing even one of them
  • The full support of his benefactor Peter Theil, who owns him

When TACO dies, the party will split into twenty different factions, all considering themselves the true heirs to him and despising the other 19 as traitors to their Führer.

Forgot one:

No matter if Trump is alive or dead, if Vance becomes the president he can pardon Trump for all of his federal crimes.
