MAGA after Trump - What happens after Trump is dead ?

There has not been any transiton from one cult leader to another as head of a state for a long time.
There's North Korea, but after that it's down to definitions.
Some people might even question whether North Korea is an example of a cult transitioning between leaders.

After all, the MAGAchud worship Trump of their own volition. The people in North Korea may also worship the Kim dynasty, but it is hard to know how much of that is due to a true belief in the leader and how much is due to threats of violence if they do not appear devoted enough.

Most of the world celebrates. Israel and Neo-Nazis mourn his passing with great sadness & fear for their future.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if there were cultists who had managed to convince themselves, if only subconsciously, that he can't die, to the point where they'll be shocked or even in disbelief when it happens. Like when Elvis died and (some few) people refused to believe it.

Heck, there's probably people who believe he's literally God incarnate or something.

Elvis flips the burgers and Trump eats them, forever, and ever, and ever...

1,000 year reichs never last much beyond their founders. It's going to be the same with the TACO reich.
I disagree, or more specifically I think that Trump is just the latest figurehead for the people behind Project 2025 and the like.

The death of Trump may very well signal the end of MAGA but IMO it won't be the end of the move to right wing authoritarianism and oligarchy in the US.

Unfortunately, we must also remember that it is unusual, if not downright unprecedented, for a fascist regime to be replaced democratically.
President Vance deserves to be elected on his own! Plus, it’s urgent he remains president so that he can continue to enact the policies and wishes of the late, great President Trump!

Mr. Mabelline will be the incumbent, healthy, energetic and engaged at every level with the campaign, and with the full, enthusiastic backing of the rightwing media as well as every Republican living and dead.

If Trump dies in office, Democrats don’t stand a chance at retaking the White House for maybe a decade.

This thread is interesting but irrelevant. Trump is divine and immortal.

He would be much less dangerous if that were only true. He's dying and he's in a hurry.

Rather like FDR, except of course FDR's legacy project was the challenge of turning a world on fire into a better place, rather than vice-versa.

Just like the Kims.

This has been Peter Thiel's strategy all along. Vance has been Thiel's agent for a long time, and will be his "right-hand man" once he gets the presidency. And they knew full well that President Golfo Dingbats was not going to make his full term, one way or another (death, or removal due to unreconstructed raging insanity, both of which are looming over him right now).

It's not just Vance. It's the whole fascist "Project 2025" cabal who are currently shepherding Donny through his dotage for as long as possible.

Unless...

By letting him keep on rambling insanely, they are trying to push him off the cliff...

Is there anyone as well known as Trump?
he had decades of public awareness behind, name recognition beyond pretty much any candidate before or since.

I don't think there is anyone who could credibly run on a Populist Platform if they are not supported by most of the Media, simply because not enough people will have any idea who they are.

They'll solve the name recognition problem by declaring they've found a loophole which they believe makes it lawful for them to field a fictional character as a candidate. Then the world is their oyster.

You think I'm joking, but with this lot? Just you watch.

I'm picturing a Max Headroom kind of AI program. Maybe Max Buffoon?

To be honest I think MAGA and Project 2025 are two largely unrelated ideologies. While the twain share some common goals, MAGA is a cult beholden to one man whereas Project 2025 are a conspiracy against the public (to use Adam Smith's words). And when Trump dies a lot of MAGA will die with him (the group is too closely tied with him) and Project 2025* have a lot of money behind them but not much by way of suppoerters, they'll be one of many groups vying for power in the post-Trump free for all.

* They're like a lot of business leaders in Nazi Germany, able to take advantage in a lawless government but unable to steer overall policy to their goals.

I actually don't think Vance has a chance in hell of being the next president, he's this regime's Rudolf Hess, in the position he's in because he's too weak to be a threat.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the cult schism between two or three would be cult leaders, maybe Vance as the Chief Desciple and the One True Son, maybe even the two One True Sons (let's be honest, it won't be Eric) via for control until their messiah returns to set up the Perfect Kingdom.

Sure. US politics has been a game of calvinball since January anyway.

Honestly, and this might be better suited for a new thread, but sometimes I wonder if US elections would work better if people just voted for their preferred party, and then either the winning party decided who got to be head of state (this is the way it works in Norway), or primary elections could be held so people could vote on the presidential candidate from that party that they wanted most. I imagine it could remove all the personal attacks from the discussion and help focus attention on party politics. Maybe I'm just being naïve, though, and I know there's pros and cons for both ways of doing things.
