He is probably hairy since he was 16. The hairs on the back of his hand leave a darker area and some transition to skin color. It wouldn't dissappear even in a blurry photograph.

Didn't the article in the OP say the newspaper picture was taken the second day and that KSM didn't show up until the last day or so?

For the record I do not believe that torture is an effective tool for gathering intel/evidence for many of the reasons listed in this thread. On the other hand, I think that if I was in that position and was in the process of being slaughtered like an animal (by an animal), one of my last thoughts would be "I hope this **** gets his soon." I think most of us would feel the same regardless of personal beliefs and standards in that position.
