It isn't terrible. He has made a fortune because millions love his music. By any definition other than the subjective taste-based judgement, he is a successful artist.
He is an ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ and he is bipolar. He isn't an ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ because he is bipolar.
As I said before, there's a fine line between using your mental illness diagnosis as a reason for your behaviour, and using it as an excuse for your behaviour.

In his public announcement with the apology and how it was totally the bipolar's fault (from a full page ad he took out in...the Wall Street Journal?), he says it came from frontal lobe damage in a 2002 car accident. He got blasted a little for that from bipolar groups, who say there is no such correlation.

It would be much more plausible if he showed symptoms of being anything other than a self-absorbed ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊, and something more than the cheapest of cheap talking to show he means it.

He could be completely and entirely full of ◊◊◊◊ too. I don't know what he is, if I'm being honest. He's got a song or two I don't mind, but mostly because they're used in anime cuts.
That being said, I am leaning more towards Thermal's line of thinking. I think he's just a self-absorbed ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ idiot that can't get enough of hearing himself talk. He was the center of attention when he was making extremely popular music. Now that he's faded into the background his ego couldn't handle it and he started doing anything, everything to stay in the spotlight, including mentally abusing that poor woman that was recently with him. She might still be, I don't know.
Either way, he's a diaper rash that should ◊◊◊◊ all the way off, break through the glass ceiling, and then ◊◊◊◊ off some more, don't let that limit him and keep ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ off perpetually. Like one of those infinity clocks of ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ off.

What does Cousins 'prove'? That he was mentally ill to have indulged in a bit of knob gobbling in his youth (if I'm reading his account correctly, for a decade or so)? Or that the song is so... blah... that he would have to be mentally ill to think it was worth the studio time to record?
